That's really sad. The guy's name was Charles Noble. From what I've heard, he was pretty good and had climbed in Yosemite many times.

A great climber. It's best to remember him for what he did in the hills, and for what he did for Nepal, than for his actions later on in life. As for the zilla's question, Hillary did tell a reporter that he had reached the summit first.
