Got a wild bug up my ass a while ago and started logging all of the climbing areas I know of in Northern California as a Google Earth .kmz file. Best part about this is the ability to generate an exact gps coordinate for the destination wall as well as to draw a trail that your gps can follow to reach that wall.

It was a lot of fun but I've moved on to other things so I figured I post up what I have thus far for anyone to grab and check out. A lot of the descriptions of the areas are copied directly from and

There are a few areas that I've not been to (more than a few, actually a majority) and I tried to do the best I could based upon the guidebooks and visuals but I wouldn't trust all of my markers as written in stone. (Owen's River I'm especially worried about because of the multitude of walls and the difficulty of differentiating one wall from the other based upon a satellite image and no personal experience.) My hope for posting this Google Earth KLM files is that people can look at the area/wall markers within and make any needed adjustments to the placemarkers (as well as pictures and descriptions) and repost them to this thread. That should help everyone by making all of the fuzzy areas that I've never been to a little more reliable.

All-in-all the best part is that anyone can grab gps coordinates for almost every wall I know of in NorCal from the Google Earth program so that they can avoid the normal 1-2 hour getting lost problem that I often have.

Hope someone out there can use this.

ps. by-the-way if you want to climb outside any weekend please hit me up. pinnacles, auburn, castlerock, helena, and tablemountain are my normal areas.
