Also, I would recommend a sliding scale for hand tooling, based on the extent..... so, a basic forged friend would get a smaller number of points than a cam hand filed in its entirety out of a solid block of Al with Celtic knots engraved into the lobes...... Either way, hand tooling is a big deal, but one is certainly harder than the other. Or perhaps the points would show up elsewhere - fit and finish, bling, innovation, etc. Because, that would be in my favor for points I am glad that they don’t do that. I think you should just do a better job, not trying to be a jerk but I’ve been a welder/fabricator for 8 years, I was a machinist for 4 years, I have a side business doing Auto Cadd work, and I’ve been woodworking and building stuff for fun my whole life. The water jet is a tool I use not a tool I need, I figured out how to make my web cam with hand tools last year because it cost so much to water jet. In the end it was faster and I didn’t have the time but if I made more of them I would make them by hand. If you want to make more “fair” maybe a professional and amateur class, but don’t dumb it down please. Edit to add: I do kinda miss the innovation points but that is very subjective and hard to judge. For instance I would have thought using welded chain link as your shaft would give you full innovation points but it didn’t give any. What can you do?
