I think this is an area that has just not been explored much.
As to Hetch Hetchy...It might be to cold at any time of the year. I nearly died swimming across the Merced River as it runs through Yosemite (which would rate as a stream anywhere but California). I think falling into that reservoir tired could be fatal.
But... there has got to be some amazing DWS in the continental USA that is going unclimbed so far. I am guessing there are a few areas that are just waiting to be if not discovered then realized as DWS spots.
