New River Gorge – West Virginia - Sponsored by New River Mountain Guides - Description: This 3-day camp addresses falling directly to help improve commitment. We do progressive falling practice on day one. On day two, we do movement, breathing, resting, and body/mind awareness exercises. On day three, we apply everything to a goal route. You’ll leave understanding how to take appropriate risk and how to commit to those risks. - You’ll learn: *How to give a dynamic (cushioned) belay *How to fall safely *Advanced falling techniques, such as falling while committing *Better mental awareness by learning the mind’s limitations *Better body awareness by learning how to trust it *To distinguish between no-fall and yes-fall zones *To make appropriate risk decisions *To rest efficiently *To develop flow and momentum *To deal with climbing stress *To improve problem-solving skills *Reduce fear, and more - Pre-requisites: Able to toprope 5.8 in a gym with no falls Climb indoors/outdoors at least 1-2 times per week At least 6 months of continuous climbing experience within the last year Instructors: Elaina Smith & Arno Ilgner - Investment: $429 Check our “Discounts on Training” for discounts on these camps.
