Edit: for spelling No rope thinner than 8.9mm has ever been rated as a single. The thinnest UIAA certified single rope in existence is the Mammut Serenity 8.9mm. It is possible they used to be rated as twins. If they were, it would be listed on the UIAA website. You can view archival certifications on there.
