Sounds like you guys screwed the pooch with regards to access to these cliffs. Should have checked State regs when using public land. I hope you get access back, and if you do be more proactive in the future.
These crags have been open for 20 years. We even had a written agreement with the state that specifically authorized us to climb on the land. Over 100,000 climbers have visited our crags without issue until now. The reason why the area is closed is because the director of the state department that controls the area is scared of liability so he just closed the area. He took a totalitarian approach to the closure by ignoring the fact that we had a written agreement with the state specifically authorizing us to climb there, and by ignoring every attempt we have made to discuss the issue and try to reach a solution. Other branches of the goverment (city level) have specifically called the department out for making rash decisions without input from the public. This is a big ordeal, thousands are pissed off about the highly unprofessional approach the director is taking. The climbers have done absolutely nothing wrong. The crags that were shut down here were some of the most well-kept and injury-free crags in the United States, and the only reason they are closed now is because one guy wants to shield his department from liability and so his solution is to close everything everywhere.
Did the agreement include permission for bolting the hell out of the place and slacklining off of and over choss?

Curious, who was this that posted asking who else climbed at the Moke? Of the 100,000?
