They are also designed for alpine use and would probably be uncomfortable for more than single pitch. Well, you're wrong on all counts. I've used an older version of this buckle (briefly). Not that complicated. You can very easily open it without loosening the buckle just by pulling the harness up and sucking in your gut. Put it on the same way. People are squishy. As for the "alpine" thing, this is Mammut's all-arounder harness, just with the quick buckles. It's exactly identical in every way to their standard high end harness, which is intended for all pursuits, except for the buckles. They also make a different, truly alpine-specific harness.
