I haven't been climbing too long, but i'm trying my darndest and reading up everything I can get my hands on. Is anyone on here from the Northwest corner? I'm in Torington. peace!

Well that's unfortunate...I should head down there and put up the first "member's only" ascent.

So if i were to develop a local crag that has no ascents, would the use of pins and other aid gear (no bolts) be against local ethics? Is the only type of aid allowed in CT clean? Thanks in advance.

Ethics in CT are a sticky subject. I think "The Ethic" is that all gear is to be placed on lead from free stances. That originally included fixed gear that can periodically be seen at Pinnacle(Mossad) and Ragged(Knights Gambit). But since He Who Shall Not Be Named got a grudge and started chopping ALL fixed gear, included the stuff that was put up free during the FAs. I think...can anybody verify this? None of the old timers from CT hang out here anyhow. dev

Hey dev - climb any ice this year? Hey that slab brings back some memories.. do you remember John (Johnny) - we used to come in to SB alot together.. he and I and another guy were playing around there and got totally blindsided by the most wicked rainstorm I've ever seen. It came from nowhere! A Munter saved the day, as I recall.

Hishopper I got out once so far, its been a pretty lean year to start, then I realized that I really don't have any partners for ice, so its been kinda tough going. I have picked up tele-skiing, which is a ton of fun, so I haven't really missed the ice that much. I was running at Ragged this past sunday and I came across some anchors set up at Main Cliff, I gotta say, someone is brave to be rock climbing in this weather. ah well dev

More worth it if you go before or after the Rendevouz and climb in the area. The Rendevouz is fun, but I'd go for the climbing rather than the clinics. T

I will climb almost anytime. I love going to the gym (usually go to prime climb). Once the weather gets better I will be hitting some real rock.

Looking at the weather forcast for this weekend, we might have a small window of opportunity to get some climbing in. Anyone available Saturday to do ragged, pinnacle might still be really wet. Sean

Hey guys, I'm a climber from the MassClimber's thread and wanted to hit Ross Rock this Saturday. Anyone know the conditions? I've never been there, but I hear it's pretty sweet. Thanks...
