Hey everyone, thanks for all the help on the names for the new products. Most are now posted on our website, the remainder will be posted later. We are looking for names for our new rubber so the same rules apply as the last contest. You come up with the names and you get the prizes (shoes, shirts, other stuff). Its as hard and edges as well as anything on the market but is about 16% stickier, and about 12% more durable. Independent labs are testing right now and the results will be posted later. Don't worry, I am also revieiwing names and previous contest threads for names and winners. Good Luck. Joe Garland Sales and Marketing Manager, Mad Rock

What happened to all the original replies that were here yesterday? How come all these posts are attributed to madrock? What happened to madrock's reply where he told a user that his MadRock shoes wouldn't wear out so fast if he could climb harder than 5.10? Edit -- oh, wait, I found it: http://www.rockclimbing.com/...iewtopic.php?t=95216

In reply to: Yeah, where did my post go? Who edited the hell out of this thread?...and for what reason? Curt Madrock started a new thread because he was embarrased by his earlier remark where he dissed one of his customers. The old thread remains but with the title "thread moved".

How about "furious" rubber, since your company is called "MadRock" and you guys like to diss your customers? hosh. PS, My madRock shoes fell apart in a matter of weeks as well. And it wasn't the footwork. I've got Montrails that lasted, 5.10's that are still lasting, after over a year, and Evolves that are holding strong. My MadRocks simply fell apart after a few weeks of use...

In reply to: Joe Garland Sales and Marketing Manager, Mad Rock Joe: here is a suggestion to correct this situation: 1. Go back to the other thread and apologize for the remark to your customer about his skill level. 2. Open a new thread inviting people to give feedback on Mad Rock products, good and bad. Be willing to reply to legitimate concerns, including shoes that wear out quickly. I have never bought Mad Rock shoes, but I love my Mad Pad, and I'm sure that you have other happy customers. If you want to develop good customer relations (as seems to be the goal of the naming contests), one of the most effective approaches is to open a clear, honest, transparent dialog with customers -- including those who have legitimate complaints. Best wishes, Dan

In reply to: Let's hope MadRock is actually developing a completely new type of rubber for fixing dumbass posts. I'm thinking maybe a takeoff on their finger condoms, and make a full hand rubber tube that fits the hand tight enough to prevent all finger movement. That would sufficiently hinder typing ability.

I have to agree that the single best thing to do is apologize for the dis in the last thread. PR is all about coming clean and recognizing your mistakes. Blame it on the open keg in your office or some rogue employee from the mailroom... Hmmm, stiffer and lasts longer than the rest? How about... Mad Rock Gigolo! You could even have a "signature series" from Peter North. All day long, all day strong. Seriously though... * Second Skin * Hematite (like onyx, only more pretty) * Soul Fly (souls of your shoes... fly on a wall... and an awesome band!) * Grapnel * Grapple * Yin (the dark portion of a Yin-Yang symbol)

cut and pasted from the other "name the rubber" [SmartAss] thread: Gecko Rubber I lived in the south Pacific for 16 years and those suckers stick to anything! Tough Skin Ebony Synergy (two things combing to yield something greater than the sum of the individual parts. i.e. toughness plus stickiness yielding a rubber that is better than just tough and sticky) "The interaction of two or more agents or forces so that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual effects." Epiphany - an eye opening experience (using the new rubber). "A comprehension or perception of reality by means of a sudden intuitive realization"

If it were me, I would try and choose a name that sounded a little less juvinile for the name of the rubber. The shoes themselves are probably deserving of exciting names like killer and prosititue, but the rubber should sound more calculated. It just shouldn't sound like a gimmick. My suggestions would be: Black Rubber Vulcanized Rubber (it is vulcanized, isn't it?) Formula "M" (for madrock) Rubber Bug Rubber (making refrence to Cicada)

Here are a few of my ideas. Levitator or levit8 Synapse Soma - Drug used in Brave New World (book by Aldous Huxley) Apogee - highest point in an arc Madness Mad dog Infinity - since it is so durable Magnet Attraction Ascent Summit Unobtanium - since only you make it and 5-10 and la sportiva cant use it! Vulcanator - Vulcanized rubber process Best Regards, Marc Webster

I would say something here, but since the original poster has a penchant for COMPLETELY changing the topic of his threads, I think not. Sort of like someone who asks you to answer "Yes" or "No", BEFORE they tell you what the question is.
