Now that it seems we've settled a date and location. I believe it would help to settle out some details.

Such as:What about food? Bring some to share? Or everyone for themselves?

A meeting time?
Directions? (Those can probably wait) But we should identify a central meeting location if we're going to be staying at multiple locations.

Others? I'm tired and can't think anymore. (First week of classes )

Hi,
How bout we do a meal that we all share,a dinner, and leave the rest to each of our own devices?
How many are going to camp out back,I need to know.No-one sleeping in the driveway this time.Got Gregg and maybe Chris and Co. so far, let's get a number.
PM me if you want to camp out back.
Is this in hunting season?

mitch...according to paone's earlier post, the only hunting that would be occuring would be archery for deer.

Being a hunter, upon a time myself, I do believe that small game (rabbits, squirels, and pheasants) are open as when. But those hunters are never to worry about.

How do we want to work the accomdations? I know a friend in Elverson, which I believe is just down the road, would it be best for us to spread out or concentrate everyone at the two places that have already been offered up? Another concern is parking everyone at the two houses.

Are we planning on getting some climbing in friday night. Keep in mind, by Nov. its getting dark considerably earlier.

Lets keep blazin' through these details guys.
God Bless
Randy

We could eat at the Old Country Buffet, In Reading. I just drink a lot of beer at the northeast taproom.

i've climbed at Birdsboro and have some info for you guys.

there are approx 20 climbs. only two 5.8's and two 5.9's. the rest are upper level 5.10's and 5.11's, with a few 5.12's and one 5.13. in other words, it is very fun but no easy routes. all sport climbs with cold shuts as top anchors - very solid pro.

hope this helps to plan your gathering.

I am SO SAD about this!! I was getting so psyched for this until I read Amber's message about the grades. Count me and my crew out, I guess, 'cause I'm the only one that could climb that stuff and I'd burn fast. Oh well. Have a great time, anyway, you guys! I'll meet y'all sometime.

Well its not time to be SAD quite yet. Lets discuss this. I, myself, won't flash a ten either. However, Mitchal's earlier post seemed to describe the small"er" area as "all grades". Now, I've never been there so I'm seeking for some clarification as to what "ALL GRADES" means.

I don't want this to be an upper level/elite gathering. Especially, since I originally posted this thread, and I can't climb 5.10s or above. So, lets get confirmation of the grades and work from there. If that is the case, Neversink is close by. And Chickies is within striking distance if we want to split up for an afternoon session.

God Bless
Randy

After scooping out Mitchal's Beta in the Dbase. I, who climb 8s and 9s, am interested in several climbs.

Check it out: Birdsboro Beta

Hey,
There are many climbs less than 10's at the area.If that isn't enough, there is the ctrag atop Neversink, which is where I live,as well as many climbs in the valley behind my house, where there will be camping, and many bouldering problems too.I have one especially in mind for you Randy,200' of 45 degree run, going uphill.
Also at Birdsboro, there are spots that can be toproped at any climbing grade level you may feel comfortable at.
COME ONE....COME ALL!!!
Climb Happy
Mitch
Thanks for adding that link Randy!

I take my granmama climbing there,I don't wanna hear no excuses!

So, we've resolved the rating and abiiity situation, lets make sure to fiugre out the housing and lodging like Anne suggested.

How many can Nate accommadate?
Mitch, how many can you?

PS. I'm definitely bringing my camera along to get some shots of the event. However, I've never established a hanging rapell. How about just TRing it? Does anyone have any suggestions? If you do, PM me, don't post it on this thread.

Ok, here is what I hava avalable for lodging.
One futon bed that can sleep two people,
One foam matt that is the size of a twin bed,
and one couch.
Floor space is also avalable if anyone wants that, or if you own a cot.

Just let me know if you want to stay at my place, and we can make the necessary plans.

Ok, out of the list of people that I have down as attending, how many can offer some sort of lodging, and how many can they fit?

Also, how many people will be bringing guests not from rc.com?

I will keep this tally up to date. I seemed to have lost my way when they moved the post.

Looks good on attendance so far.

Someone raise the questions about Friday nite. Good point. Since it will be dark when many people get off work and they have that "out by dark" restriction, we should consider climbing Sat and Sun.

As far as lodging, it would be fun to stay relatively close together. Let's not forget that French Creek State Park is only minutes away. Myself, plus 2 are still on track for staying at Mitch's, however, if enough people wanted to tent it at French Creek, we would be up for that as well!

Randy, just to throw my 2 cents in, we climbed this weekend at Birdsboro. Yes, the climbs are not easy. Note, that means no 5.1-5.4. However, the 5.6 and 5.7 are actually easy. My 11 year old daughter did them both this weekend. Additionally, there will be enough people there that I am sure manyt people would not mind leading a route and setting it up as a top rope. I am sure there will be ropes hanging everywhere that weekend. So much looking fun to it!!

What is the camping situation at French Creek? Just some woods to put a tent or accomadations? Water? Bathroom/Showers? Pay?

I'm sure we can keep entertained on Friday even if it'll be too dark to climb. That might be a good night to go out for a 'group dinner", that way we can meet each other, chat... otherwise, we'd be kinda seperated if we split to go to where we are staying.

As if planning this isn't enough on our plate. I'm throwing around the idea of a Chickies Rock Adopt-a-Crag Day for the Fall, maybe the Spring would be better, so we could climb the routes we scrub....

Anyway....check out that thread if you're interested. I hate to congest a thread with plugs for other topics, but I had to considering all the readings this one is getting. --Sorry guys.

PS Please ignore my hasteful tone at the beginning of this post

God Bless, Randy
