I'm going to be staying in N. Tucson for the entire month of April and would love to hook up with some local climbers. I'm interested in getting out to Mt. Lemmon, Queen Creek, and The Isle of You (sp?) My schedule should be fairly flexible. Anyway, I'm primarily a sportclimber and have been climbing for about 15 years (haven't dropped anyone yet!) As far as grades go, I'm pretty flexible--anything from 5.9 to easy 5.13 works for me, assuming my elbows are cooperating. Kind of advanced notice, I know, but PM me if you think you might be interested.

I'm down to load up the shitty tercel and roadtrip that biatch into a 3 day oblivion... any takers??? I'd like to do some phx stuff before it gets too hot, but i'm always down for sedona and flag and obscure missions. Also, zion, red rocks and I've never been to Jtree so that would be sweet. I will be in Phoenix area the last week of February and the first week of March for business. I fly in from Michigan but this time my climbing buddies are going the other way. It would be great to find a few that want to sport or top rope. I've been climbing in AZ for over 7 years but (5.8 - 5.9). I climb for fun. Even if you are just getting started it would be fine. I hate hauling my gear just to sit in the hotel room. Let me know.

STL (single trad leader) ISO other STL or STF (single trad follower) for 5.4 - 5.10 fun on McDowell Mountain routes March 5th: Gardener's Wall, Sven Slabs, or Morrell's Wall. Have ropes, rack, wheels. Will bring all three if you bring beer.

I would like a partner for Sedona this Sunday, March 5 - - someone who can meet up either in Sedona or Flagstaff pretty early Sunday morning. I can lead everything unless otherwise desired. I am flexible about what we climb, but generally I have enjoyed routes there such as Praying Hands, the Prosecutor, etc.. I would be happy to either follow someone on something harder than I can lead there or take someone out who isn’t familiar with the area or that type of climbing. Please PM any responses, thanks.

I have my equipment out here so if you are still looking for a partner in crime let me know. I lead sport up to 5.9 .. sorry I am not much of a 5.10 lead but always willing to give it a go. There are three areas I have climbed in Az (Camelback, Queen Valley and Superior). Number (480) 897-7444 Room 247 .. Derrick Webb. I've been coming here college so hopefully I can give some info about the area for you.

Flagstaff got a touch of SNOW. Holy cow. but today it is gone. Not Good for skiing but the climbing is great everywhere. I would count on the USFS closing the forests again this summer. Travel or learn to love the Gym when it is nice outside. :(

As with all other such threads (Mass Climbers, Front Range, etc.) I've stopped this thread from echoing to the front page of the site. It shall still be easiy viewed by checking in the "Mountain States" forum, but fair is fair, and we have to treat all threads equally.

In reply to: In reply to: I would count on the USFS closing the forests again this summer. :( out of ignorance on my part - why does the USFS close the forests (fire?) and what prominent Flag areas are affected (priest?)? Thanks! Usually because of an ongoing fire, or a dramatically high fire danger. This winter has been very dry, and the whole darn state is like a big tinder box, ready to burn at even the sight of a match. Areas affected can vary, but the Forks, the Pit, and Priest Draw are all distinct possibilities. Dunno about Jacks or Lemmon.

In reply to: something like that, i am actually enjoying because i can go climb like every weekend. That's pretty short-sighted. I wouldn't be happy about the frighteningly dry winter and spring we've had. This state is a tinder box and I'll bet money that the climbing "opportunities" you're enjoying now will be non-existent come summer.

The USFS shuts the forest down because people start fires. A very large majority of fires are started by people, like camp fires, chainsaws, ATVs, and guns. All that fun stuff on the forest. Climbing areas affected in Flagstaff? ALL. Thats right. Jacks, Pit, Forks, Elden, Priest Draw, Overlook. Michael PS It is snowing but we are along ways from enough.

hi there, i posted this elsewhere, but no replies yet, so i'll try again. i'll be in sedona this weekend (march 18-19th) and have to work in the AM on the 18th, but would love to get some climbing in otherwise. if anyone's up for taking a visitor with them (i'll have my own car), that would be terrific. or, if you have suggestions for where i may be able to find other climbers, maybe even a guide, or just suggestions for bouldering, it'd all be greatly appreciated. just PM me or email me at onthemind@gmail.com. thanks much! best, jyl

Let me know if anyone is looking to climb this weekend or during the week, thanks! I have a sport rack, can lead into the mid 10's but would love to follow some trad.

I'm going to be in Tucson on the first and am staying for at least a month, with a (sort of) flexible schedule. I'm interested in doing some sportclimbing and maybe bouldering in the area--Mt. Lemmon, Isle of You, Queen Creek--and would love to get out with some locals, if anyone needs a partner. Also, a few questions: I have the AZ Falcon Guide, but it's kind of old and incomplete. Many of the newer sport areas aren't in it. I heard that there's an up to date guide to Mt. Lemmon available at the Summit Hut. Is that true? Same comment on Queen Creek--I can't find a guide. Does the Summit Hut or somewhere in Phoenix have one? What about a bouldering guide? Finally, I heard some noise about closures on Mt. Lemmon due to fire hazard and raptor nesting. Anyone know about this? Thanks! And again, if anyone out there needs a climbing partner starting the 1st, let me know.

I'll be in queen creek this saturday and maybe sunday doin some sport. Maybe in yakov wall or the mine area. Any of you guys up for that, I'd be happy to take 1 or 2 others, just pm me. Probably start on .8 or .9 and get on a .10 and hopefully an .11. If my buds cant go, I'm going to binghamland or tinkerbell wall for some bouldering.

Hi AZ folks... I'll be in the Tempe/Phoenix area for a conference on April 22-28. But I'll actually be free on Saturday afternoon April 22, Sunday April 23 all day and Monday April 24 all day. I'd love to explore some of the local climbing. Can anyone point me and my buddy (unless you are willing guide us) to some easy sport climb areas (I can lead sport up to some 5.9) or areas where a top rope setup is relatively simple and accessible (will top top 5.10 and some 5.11, but my climbing partner likes to stay in the 5.7 yo 5.9 area). Although I've taken a basic anchor building class at J-tree, I have no experience in trad climbing and very little trad gear with which to set up anchors (but might buy a few key pieces if I have to). Your help would be much appreciated. If you feel like joining us and showing us the crags, we can provide transportation from the Tempe area. Thanks PD

if you are looking for someone to show you where to climb, i would be will ing to go with you, i would bring a friend ofcoarse, so that we dont end up with 3 people, i usually go to queen creek for good sport climbing. Check out the mine area, upper devils, i wouldnt reccomend going to the pond, every route there is like 5.10 and up. Upper devils would probly be your best bet, i pretty much know all of the routes there, most of them are in the 5.7-5.10a range and they are fairly soft rated. If you want to check out the routes go to the phoenix area routes and then go to queen creek section, from there dont click on the upper devils area, the places are pancake house, the throne and just look around, youll find something good out there, let me know if you want to go, i will bring a friend, possibly a big group to where we could get a lot of climbing in.

also check http://www.drtopo.com/index4.html for queen creek and oak flats. The QC one shows a small number of their massive number of sport climbs, and the oak flats shows a decent number of their plethora of bouldering.

Sweet! Yeah, I'll probably take you up on that offer to come along.. with a friend or a group. The more the merrier. The plan at the current moment is for me and my main climbing buddy to go out climbing Sat, Sun and Mon. But especially on Sat, we may have one or two additional complete beginner joining us. Almost our whole department will be in the area for a conference and some are wanting to try rock climbing. Many are attending training on Sunday and Monday, whereas myself and my buddy are not. It's a shame we'll have to occupy ourselves with climbing ;). I guess we'll touch base again closer to the date... but you can count on us being there on those days: April 22, 23, 24.

The Falcon guide is just not a good resource for Lemmon climbing. Get Squeezing the Lemmon at Summit Hut. A lot of climbs (mostly sport climbs at higher elevations) have gone up since it was published but it's pretty complete.

Hello! :) I reside in WA. I am in Phoenix for work. I am busy until 4:30 pm each day. I am staying next to the Metrocenter. This is my first time in AZ. I would like to climb outside. I have until Thursday. I am leaving for NM Friday afternoon. I would like to hit up Pinnacle Peak for a 5.7 - 5.9 ish predominetly crack type line (if available?). I am thinking something like: Happy Robots 5.7 Birthday Party 5.7 Mickey Mantle 5.8 Delayed flight 5.8 It all depends on approach times. I can be on the road from the Metrocenter at 4:31 pm, so I think it is possible to be on route by 5:01 pm. Anybody else agree? Leave me a message or give me a call! cell: 509 200 2469 I brought my own vehicle, rack, rope, harness, shoes, etc. Ken P.S. I am going to hike Camelback Mtn. this evening with my shoes and harness in tow, trying to bogart laps on other peoples ropes.

Whoa! I haven't climbed at PP in 17 years and I check this thread for the first time and somebody is talking about a route I put up that day! My wife and I put up Happy Robots the Day before we got married. We did another one that day to but I don't remember the name. It is a pretty short route as I remember. Enjoy... BTW we are still happily married too.

I know it's a few weeks away, but anyone interested in Flagstaff climbing/camping/brain cell killing on May 13, 14, 15, and 16 (Sat-Tues.) I'll be done with finals, will have my first full weekend off since January, and will be in the mood for rocks, beer, and campfires.

I just moved to Casa Grande and am looking for regular or not so regular partners for Mt. Lemmon or elsewhere in the southern AZ area. I prefer sport to trad but I'm willing to do either, up to 5.8 or 5.9. If interested for this weekend or any other time, please p.m. me. Thanks.

Okay... a couple of co-workers and I will be leaving Tempe around 12 this Saturday heading for Queen Creek (Upper Devils/Pancake house maybe... will get the paper guide book at REI after we land Friday) for the afternoon. Anybody wanting to join us either to just hang out and climb or guide us around are welcome. We'll be looking for easy stuff ranging from 5.6 to 5.9 and will try some harder stuff if we can set up top ropes from other climbs. If you see two guys with pony tails that look like they are not used to the area... that'll be us, give us a shout. We might be coming back Sunday and Monday, but will likely look for a different spot. Hope to come across some of you.

Bumpage for May 13 and 14 in Flag. I'll be heading up Saturday morning, as I'm working a 24 hour shift on the 12th (Friday,) and get off duty at 0700. Plan on being at the parking lot for the Pit around 10am. Camp somewhere Saturday night, climb Oak Creek Overlook Sunday, and head back Sunday evening (working Monday.) Ed, Hillary, Curt, Alex, Bill... who's in?

I am ditching graduation for this (the blue maternity space-blanket that passes for "academic attire" just does not flatter, and they mail the diplomas anyway). I don't know when we'd get in, Saturday morning I assume. I'll check with Alex on the Pit and get back to ya... I don't know what his tendons are thinking right now as far as limestone pockets go. Ed, are you saying you're joining us??? Swooooon! I'll give Kole a jingle. Maybe he's NOT dirtbagging in Yos just yet... JRB... Fat Tire.

Oh, Mother's Day. Reminds me of Valentine's Day. Don't get me started ;) OK, so Ed, are you saying yea for Watson Lake Dells the weekend after next then? The 20-21. Those climbs are kinda lame but they're totally tendon-proof and the backdrop is pretty spiffy. I'll ropegun for ya :P

Hello Arizona folks, Anyone interested in partnering up on Sunday 5/13 at Mt. Lemmon? I am driving to Nogales by Monday, so I am planning to get to the area on Saturday night, and get acquainted with Mt. Lemmon on Sunday. On my best days, I lead 5.10 sport, 5.6 trad, and follow 5.11 sport, 5.9 trad. I'll have my rack and will be as safe and attentive as they get.

Looking for mentor to assist in my knowlege and learning of TRAD climbing. I'm starting down the long and interesting path of TRAD climbing. Love the security of sport leading but want to venture in the orgins of this awsome sport. I'm in Tucson and love Mt. Lemmon. I mostly climb on Sunday's. I at this current moment only have a set of stoppers. Not gonna jump into investing on gear right away so i dont get over confedent and make any stupid decsions. Thanx All. -chris-

In reply to: OK, good thing my social calendar is written in pencil :) Sat, Pit, Sun, Overlook. Saturday night = spooning with beetles and other Flag fauna under the stars. Am I trackin'? Maybe. :D Climbingcowboy, what say let's look for a few days off towards the end of the month, and you and I will hit up Sedona or Watson? I'll hit Tucson this weekend with Climbsomething and Tucsonalex and anyone else that wants to head south. I'm exercising my non-existant authority and making a command decision. I have it on good authority that the higher elevations of Lemmon are not a blistering inferno, and that I might even be able to tolerate it. ;) Climbsomething, pick a convenient place to meet on Saturday morning, around 10am. I'll get off work at 0700, swing by my place to get the gear and the dog, and head south. While picking this meeting place, do keep in mind that I don't know Tucson all that well, and might need to make a cell phone call to say "Where the $%#@ am I?" Bill, keep me posted? Curt, you in for bolts on Lemmon on Sunday? Ford, are you reading this? Anyone else? Anyone? Buhler? Buhler?

I might be in for some climbing at Lemmon Saturday? I never did make it to the AZ gathering 4.X due to the rain forecast. I am in the process of going through intense negotiations with the wife on scheduling (i.e read begging). I have planned to do Mars Attacks in Sedona, Tahquitz, and Oak Creek Canyon Overlook in the next few weekends. I suppose I have to give somewhere and put in face time/honeydo list management :? Let you guys know soon…that is if you don’t mind another climber tagging along.

In reply to: Then I am in. I am a single. Just tell me where and when and I am there. Cool. Always nice to meet new people and make new friends. WE're climbing at Munchkinland on Saturday, right Climbsomething? Where shall we camp? Rose Canyon or Prison Camp? At any rate, keep an eye out for my car: Black Dodge Intrepid, temporary dealer tags. I'm the tall guy with glasses, a cigar, piss-poor footwork technique, and a black and brown shepherd/husky mix.

In reply to: I'm camping at my house ;) heh. But will gladly hang for awhile wherever you decided to camp if you feel like throwing a campfire party. Wow... a real outdoors woman, eh? ;)
In reply to: Camping location is up to you. OK... we'll figure that out later. For anyone who wants to hook up with Climbsomething, Tucsonalex, Bill, and myself, we're climbing at Munchkinland today.
In reply to: Call me if you want directions to my pad. Will call in a few hours. I'm leaving work, heading home to get the dog, take a shower, and I'm on the road.

My moderate sunburn is aching (leathery back here I come!), the pizza is mostly digested, and the photos have been removed from the card and hacked at. This picture just kicks ass, Hillary. I've got new wallpaper on my monitor. Many, many thanks to Hillary and Alex for their hospitality, friendship, and breakfast burritos. Note to self: Next time you go camping, remember to bring the damn fuel for the stove.

Epic Ed and Climbsomething and Climbingcowboy: Are you guys still planning on Watson Dells this weekend? I can sneak out on Sunday, but can't do the whole weekend, cause of other obligations on Saturday evening. Will drive up to Dells early Sunday, meet and climb, and make it back to PHX that night. If you're in, I'm in. And if anyone else wants to carpool, get in.

Hey I'm looking for a climbing partner. I live in Gilbert and was climbing every weekend. My partner quit so I haven't been climbing for 4 wks now. Let me know if your interested in climbing outdoors. I usually travel about 50-100 miles to climb so it takes a whole day off the weekend to climb, climb, climb. Linda p.s. I have a 4wd.

Hi. I'm new to the sight, but have lived in Prescott for about three years. I'm into bouldering and trad climbing and would love to meet some new people. I live at the camp I'm working at so the hostel thing is hard, but I have a buddy in town "basalt rocks" who may have an open couch. Drop me a line if you'll be in town and have wouldn't mind me tagging along. I may have to work alot this summer, but I'll definately want to get out when possible. Mike. Incentives for inviting me along: Full trad rack, Metolius Bohemith crashpad, knowledge of local area, wonderful smile, and shirts so ugly they can't help but make others look good...

Since we didn't have an AZ gathering this year, I'll throw this out there: Anyone interested in Flagstaff for Sept 22-24? I've got a rare weekend free, and thought it'd be nice to hit the Pit and/or Oak Creek Overlook before it gets too cold. Open to other ideas, too.... I'll bring the cast iron dutch oven and make a big pot of chili, if bribery will help.

reno, climbsomething, everybody else, I would be way amped to come down and climb that weekend in Flagstaff. I haven't climbed in that area for a while, and I'm now living in Moab, so a weekend trip to the Pit or the Forks would be pretty cool.

^^ Kick azz. Hil's evolving agenda: Saturday I am likely going to be among a mess of moving boxes and freaked out cats, but I am sure I can escape for at least Sunday, and edibles and drinkables on Saturday night (Reno, ever checked out the wine bar downtown? Y'all should). I'm also free Monday, and I am sure Alex will be too.

Reno's agenda: Arrive Flag on Thursday, early evening. Find a place to set up base camp, and commence to the beer consumption. Friday, climb. Friday evening, eat camp food and drink beer. There will be a 8 quart batch of camp chili cooked in the dutch oven over an open fire one of these nights. And if nobody else shows, then I'll eat all 8 quarts by my damn self. Hillary, you know how troublesome this idea can be. Saturday/Sunday: Repeat as necessary and able. I'm heading back to PHX on Sunday, as I have to work on Monday. Though, since I'll be working in Payson, I might just stay Sunday night and save 140+ miles of driving. We need a decent, easily found, easy to access place to camp. Ideas, anyone? Camhead: C'mon on down... you can rope gun for me, since I suck more than a $5 hooker on double coupon night.

Too bad I gotta work Friday and will be knee-deep in moving boxes Saturday-day. But you say "we," so you have a pard/traveling partner lined up? Otherwise you gotsta boulder for 2 days! or put on your sweetest "trawling for partners at the base" face... which won't get you very far if you indulge in the chili the night before. So yeah, about that chili, hold off til Saturday, and A and I will come down that night (we'll even bring a big hunk of cheese to add to it). JUST DO NOT EAT IT ALL YOURSELF. I don't wanna write the lead story the next day about the Phoenix man who felled a stand of century-old Ponderosas, turned the Lake Mary trout belly up, and ignited a brush fire with his toxic ass. Maybe you can camp at Fay Canyon? Paradise Forks? Priest Draw? There is SO much FS land here but I don't know the ins and outs yet. Hope a "real" local can clue ya in there ;)

Sweet, I'm there. Sport, trad, whatever, would be cool. There is decent free camping near Paradise Forks, or if we want to be nearer town and the "scene," there are plenty of spots around Priest's Draw as well. And if Reno is doing chili, I'll do sourdough biscuits!

Sure.... been a while since we climbed, Sean. JT, almost 2 years ago, IIRC. C'mon over. You know how to get here? And we need a camping spot, someone. I can offer a suggestion, but it's not really conducive to a group of more than, oh, 3 tents.

In reply to: yup, Feltonian Physics that turned out to be Prepackaged... like oops Still, it was a nice climb. And most adventures start out with some variation of "ooops."
In reply to: and yes, i need directions. haven't climbed in AZ yet. been wanting to. i have Bloom's Castles in the Sand that covers Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon. recently tracked down a copy of the Paradise Forks guide too. lovely cracks Two options, and you can pick depending on which interstate is easier for you to get to: I-10 East to Phoenix, then I-17 north to Flagstaff. I-40 East past Vegas to Flag. I'll wait another couple days, see if anyone has a camp site idea... then we'll post up directions to that. If nobody offers a campsite by, oh, Thursday, I'll pick one and put the directions here. That seem fair? So far: Climbsomething (and probably Tucsonalex) Camhead Reno Baja-Java gripfiender Anyone else?

I'm in for one day -- probably Saturday. Camping -- if we're climbing at the Overlook, there is some really nice open dispersed camping right there. One spot is the gated forest road directly opposite the entrance to the Overlook. If the gate is open, then camping is allowed. This area gets a fair amount of traffic from drunken Mexicans, and I've camped there when the mariachi music has been loud and completely intolerable. On the plus side, it's very easy to find. My favorite spot is just north of the Overlook just above the ADOT yard off to the east side of 89A. It's the first (I think) gated forest road on the east side of 89A above the ADOt yard. The gate is usually closed, but unless its LOCKED you are allowed to open up and drive in to camp. The road quickly gets to a very open area that could accomodate a lot of knuckle-draggers. If that area looks busy, just keep driving further back. Last time I was there the dirt road was easily passable by 2WD, low clearance vehicles at least to the first open area. There's only one rutted area beyond that that may keep low clearance vehicles from going all the way back to the rim. There are no facilities at either area, but the second option is usually extremely private and secluded. A big bonus is it's just down the road from Flagstaff proper. Much closer than the camping at the Forks. Ed

I like this idea.... close to Oak Creek, close enough to the Pit and Priest Draw, and easy access to the interstate for those wanting to hit the Forks. Shouldn't be too hard for folks to find, too. Everyone want to vote yea or nay? And for redlegrangerone: There will indeed be cracks climbed. Forks, of course, but there are good crack systems at Oak Creek. Come on up. Bring beer. Lastly: I've got space to share a ride from PHX. I'll have my dog, but she rides in the back seat. I was going to leave Thursday evening, but I'm flexible on that, too.

Being of the non beer drinking persuasion, what is the preferred beer for climbing cracks?

Here's another one from this weekend: http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=78406 I would like to point out that our fearless leader doesn't have anything in for the first 50 feet or so. I'm not sure if this is by choice or necessity, but either way... yeesh. I am SO STOKED to hear there will be some Overlook crankin'. It's just so much *friendlier* than the Forks, if you're delicate like me. Can we get an agenda of sorts going? I want to know who's gonna be where when... this is vital info for climbsnothing's photo-graffin' services. Is anybody thinking of the Draw or other pebbly places on Saturday, perhaps later in the day?

sweet! I'll be down for doing cracks until tuesday or wednesday. probably stick around the city and do bouldering or spurt climbing for the weekend, and I've NEVER been to the Overlook. And the preferred beer for crack climbing is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, in my opinion.

In reply to: Can we get an agenda of sorts going? I want to know who's gonna be where when... this is vital info for climbsnothing's photo-graffin' services. Mine: Thursday: arrive in the evening, set up camp, mebbe join you and Alex in Flag for a burger and a pitcher of beer, if you're free. Friday: Climb, either at the Pit or the Forks, depending on who I can find for a partner and what they want to do. Saturday: Overlook, then back to camp to make chili. Dinner around 8 pm, for those that care. Sunday: Overlook or Pit, then pack up and head back to PHX, leaving around 7 pm (have to work Monday, at that means waking up at 4 am.)

Hello there Arizonians! My name is Marc and I am about to head out to Prescott via Flagstaff. If anyone is looking for a partner or psyched to add someone new to their group, please holler at me! I can be reached at 928-899-7388 all night (Ill be driving all night and don't hesitate to call at any hour). I will be passing through flagstaff tomorrow (Thurs 9/14) and I'd be happy to stop and climb at Paradise Forks if I hear form someone. I currently don't have a crash pad with me, but I do have trad rack and ropes (never leave home without them). If someone is interested in climbing in the Prescott area you can either call me at the above number, leave me a message on this forum or send me an IM. I'm still relatively new to this website -- but I think that I've got it figured out. Happy climbing everyone!! -Marc Horan

In reply to: hey reno, I'll arrive thursday night as well; we should definitely hit 'da forks on friday. OK. I think Baja Java will be in town Friday as well. Right, Sean? Want to meet Paul and I at the Forks on Friday?
In reply to: where are you camping that night? or should we just meet up for food in Flagstaff that night and head from there? Don't matter to me. I doubt that next weekend will be a busy camping weekend, but I thought I'd find that camping area that Epic Ed mentioned and stake claim for the group. What's the name of that burger and beer joint in Flag, right beside the RR tracks? We could meet there? Or in camp.... I'll either be driving a maroon GMC Yukon (with "Air Evac" sticker in back window) or my black Dodge Intrepid (with a "Dog is my co-pilot" bumper sticker.) Your call.

OK, since nobody cast a vote either way, I'm exerting my powers as benevolent dictator and making the choice: We're camping where Epic_Ed suggested on the previous page:
In reply to: My favorite spot is just north of the Overlook just above the ADOT yard off to the east side of 89A. There's only one rutted area beyond that that may keep low clearance vehicles from going all the way back to the rim. IF it is locked, then I suggest we camp by Priest Draw. Everyone know where that is? I don't, but will find out. That is all for now. Five days, y'all.

i'll get there THU eve too. let's do dinner in town. i'd be for that. and yes, Forks on FRI sounds very good! and i'm leaning toward just MON at the Forks, paul. that'd make 4 straight climbing days for me, without having to bother with a rest day or shower or all that other stuff sean

Hell yes! I'm leaving tomorrow morning from Moab, going to stop by the Creek for a day. I'll give reno a call when I roll into town on thursday, and also go try to locate this alleged campsite. Oh, and reno, Priest's draw is a big area, with several pulloffs from the highway, so we may have to work out some more details.

Dinner on Thursday? Give me a call. Reno, I'll PM you my new phone #. It's cool enough now that b.o. might be slow to develop, but if I declare anybody in need of a bath, I can certainly provide a shower. Oh, and if it rains enough at night to scare you off the dirt pile, some more hospitality can be wrenched from me. Just know that my house is in utter chaos right now. Reno, you got a new truck? Did your wife let you have at least one nut back? :D *presses nose against Overlook guide and begins humming and chanting*

In reply to: Dinner on Thursday? Give me a call. Reno, I'll PM you my new phone #. Sweet. Camhead, baja_java, me, you, and whoever else wants in. I'm up for any kind of food, but I'll have the dogs, so it'll have to be dog-friendly (read: patio) or I'll bring them by to terrorize the Tilly.
In reply to: Reno, you got a new truck? Did your wife let you have at least one nut back? Mais non, cher. I might be able to talk her out of her GMC Yukon, if'n I ask real purty like and bring her some flowers and chocolate. 'Else it's the sedan. (Geez, I'm so neutered, it ain't funny.)

Patio = COLD SO SO COLD (my blood is still Tucson-thin). Just don't laugh at me in my down and beanie and gloves in the cruel 50 degrees. And alas, I don't have my Tilly right now. Mom's dogsitting while we move and do some minor repairs to the house and such... the disruption and open gates and doors would be too much for the little booger. But this is all the more reason for you to bring at least one husky. I need white hairs on my clothes!

Cool! We'll be there Saturday morning -- well, late morning. RENO! Bring something to be able to mark the correct gate off of 89A for the rest of us to find. Some sort of cardboard sign, duct tape, and just mark it RC.com or sumthin. Cool! See ya there. Ed

Hey yall, looking to get out to the overlook tomorrow morning, need a partner, prefereably one that can clean anything i get on, and or take over lead if I get stuck. I am fairly new to the trad climbing realm, have 5 leads under my belt, thus far. I am hoping to get on Orange out Direct, which would be the hardest lead that I have done. Anyways, get back to me here, or gimme a call 928-713-1352. lata

haha! Well, here's what I think I know, at least as far as the reno-camhead-baja_java-epic_ed-climbsnothing clan: I think today (Friday) is the Forks. Tomorrow (Saturday) I am not sure, but possibly the Pit, and that night we will be eating Reno's camp chili. Sunday is the Overlook. Blame me for that, because I demanded a ropegun for the Trinities and I can't climb on Saturday ;) Monday looks like it might hold something in store too, but I am not sure what. Reno and Ed won't be around, but camhead and baja_java should be. I defer to them and their projects; baja_java sounded interested in the Forks then, and I am sure camhead is down with that. But if they let me I might make them ropegun at the Pit or boulder at the Anvils in Sedona, cuz I'm demanding and stuff. Course, I love me some columnar basalt photos, and Paul and Sean are new and exciting (and cute!) models. *reminds self to clear memory cards for photo spazzing*

i would rather the overlook tomorrow, I wanna lead some more routes. I just started leading trad, and am looking to bump up the level, looking to get on Orange out direct, tid bit harder than i've lead before, so totally want someone that is capable of leading, so i dont loose gear, if i have to bail. If anyone is down for an overlook mission, in the morning, I'm totally in. send me a pm and i'll hit ya with my #. Lata.
