Some remarks from me too: - Iīve almost never felt problems in the pain department when crimping. No injuries or bad joint pain even when using about 90 lbs added weight on a 2cm edge. I donīt use thumb when hanging but tend to use it a lot on the rock. - When I do openhand hanging first itīs very hard to continue with crimping as the grip tends to open. - When I do crimping first I can continue the workout openhanded pretty good. - The strength in both grips is pretty much the same when tested IF I keep training both of them. - Now that I havenīt done so much openhanded hanging it certainly is lagging behind. - If I do openhanded workouts only I see my crimp fade faster than I can say Chris-Sharma-is-an-annoying-person-when-saying-he-can-take-months-off-and come-back-as-strong-as-he-was. - The fact of joint angles and strength training is way too familiar from the world of weights so pretty much no one can turn my head on that.
