Someone should consider taking him to small claims court. I can't imagine this kind of business is fully legal, even with the very protective disclaimer on the site.

placed an order. a month went by with numerous emails, complaints. He sent a usps notification that never got passed "seller has notified us that a package is ready to ship, this is not indication the package has been sent" then a week passed and he said it was lost and would send another.

eventually just went with the paypal item not recieved way and on the last day before having paypal intervene i got a refund.

beware.

^same thing happened to me with USPS notification. He did reply to my email - which he said was an error and the item was shipping right a way. Which it did - took one month to complete the transaction.

There is no way that someone is that lame - I think what happens is that he list gear without having it. Then when his orders come it - it's massive ship day(s). Just a guess.

Found on another website at homecrag.com
http://www.homecrag.com/showthread.php?tid=51

" Climb-O-Matic Customers -

Ok, look. I don't want this turning into a forum about his shop. Posts bitching and complaining about his service (or lack of) will be promptly giggled at then moved to a private thread to be giggled at again later by the board mods and admins. Ya don't go to walmart to complain about target, right?

Climb-O-Matic "customer service" does in fact exist (if only in name) and can be reached via info@climbomatic.com. I was one of his customers too, I'm in the same boat everyone else is. Be warned, if you're going to order from him, you're going to have to try to deal with him directly.

There are some irons in the fire that will cause a lot of static between him and I, the customers are the people that will come out on top.
I don't want to say a lot about it yet, just know that there's a big change for this site on the horizon that will benefit all of us!"

Lol, not sure exactly who this is or whatever, but it at least made me laugh.

As for the pack of craps situation... I'm still waiting on mine, and I get the same USPS deal. We'll see what happens. It's been a while now.

I think the one I got was like $20 or something... Yeah, I plan to post a full report of how everything does go. That was basically my entire intent on buying it.

My friend bought a $15 one and got a Size 4 ABC stopper and a footer (like an etrier with only one step, more for ascending).

I guess technically it was on-par with what he paid, but he wasn't extremely excited as you can see.

I have gotten two of the PoC's Both took over a month at arrive even with the "Guaranteed 48 hr shipping"

the first was a HMS locker and hemp salve - paid $9 inc shipping
the second was the Kong Ghost Belay Device and a normal locker - paid $20

Not sure if they are deals but compared to other people they are things that i might use.

What was up with the Black Diamond stoppers yesterday for only $37 (a FULL set). That was way to good to be true. I don't even trad and I was going to buy them after looking up the price and seeing how good of a deal it was and when I went back they were sold out. This was all before 9 a.m. too. I'm wondering how many the actually had at that price and why they would reduce it that much.

You are the first person I have heard of that has seen the item actually available. Congratulations, that is a sheer accomplishment. I looked at the stoppers shortly after the item switched, and it sold out... so maybe he put more up for sale or something later on.

Could be. I checked constantly throughout the day hoping he would put more up. Never saw any though :( Maybe another day. One reason I don't trad yet is the gear is so expensive. This would have been a great opp to get into it and start a rack.

Lol... yeah, I bought a set of ABC Huevo stoppers 1-13 for like $50... that was my dooms day. I now have a bit of debt that will be paid off with my summer job, but still... I went from eating out with people regularly and blowing $10/$20 here and there... to being completely broke and not buying anything, finding the cheapest of everything I possibly could, with the exception of trad gear. I have too much now... not really enough, but too much in such a short period. So yeah... just know, if you pick up one of those $37 sets, you are spending much more, you just don't know it yet ;-)

I'm beginning to think that anything that is lower than $1 less than retail is a fake deal.

Who has purchased the mystery gear pack? or the pack of crap for that matter... get anything good/was it worth it?

i bought the pack o crap back in february. got a belay device, cordelette, and some hemp salve. not bad for 14 bucks or so, but it wasn't one of the best packs. my roommate got a cordelette, a sticker, a belt, and a bolt with a hanger. this was by far the lamest of the packs that i'd heard about. both took a little over a month to reach us. but that's the old climbomatic, right?

that said, we both bought the mystery gear last week as well. the site said they would ship out of thursday. the roomie's shipped out friday (or at least they claim it did), no word on mine yet. i'll report back whenever it comes in

What is the story with the mystery gear now????

There is another box for $100

In all the cases you heard about....was the stuff received worth more then the price paid?

In all of the POC's/Mystery Gear's that I've gotten (6 I think and still waiting on 2), they have all been worth more than I paid for them. If they actually got things delivered to you in a timely fashion I might have risked the $100, but not when it can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months to get your gear. Plus I can spend that $100 on some more cams and be guaranteed to get what I want.

I have so much to discuss in regards to my experiences with them. I have two orders of mystery gear, yet haven't received them. I'll give the full explanation of this situation after I get off the phone with Shawn (who banned me from the forums... again, I will explain everything later) tomorrow. It's really quite amazing, I'm glad I did this "experiment".

I got banned too. Shawn wrote some really unprofessional post basically saying that it was the customer's fault that they weren't getting their packages and all that they had to do was call a number that was not listed on the site. I simply stated that he was showing no respect for his customers. My being banned just strengthens this point.

Climb-O-Craptastic + Shawn - Customer service = Out of Business
