Headed back to Old Rag after all. 37 degrees, mostly sunny, 3mph winds. Might only do some bouldering and recon work but it's better than sitting inside...

In other news, I'm so far behind in my paperwork that bossman told me to stay home monday and get caught up. I'm not sure my annual evaluation is going to be so hot this year.

I was also, unintentionally of course, responsible for an explosion, fireball, building evacuation and visit from the fire department on Friday. Turns out if you close the supply and return line valves while the boiler is running, you can blow a seal and cause a fire! Thankfully the resulting fire was relatively small and could be put out with a single fire extinguisher. Now, in my defense, I was told by the guy who scheduled the work that the fuel oil tank was for backup purposes only and expressly gave me permission to close the valves. My mistake was assuming he knew what the fuck he was talking about.

Hopefully your uphill fight will be easy. Looks ok... Most of the other parents at the meeting were there because their 4 year old has ADHD... Who dafuk diagnoses a 4 year old with ADHD?! Maybe it's best to stay the night at Old Rag, you know, just to be sure the paperwork doesn't catch fire. (btw - paperwork catching fire is a great way to not have to do paperwork, and to collect unemployment to be used for a road trip)

They dont you know, i believe this. it's not really true in Maine but it's getting there, mostly because there are more and more Massachusetts drivers moving to Maine to retire or driving there to ski (I know, I know who skis and doesn't know how to drive in snow - seriously). I think there is a weird generational shift going on. I think people are becoming so dependent on things like their smart phones and computers and stuff that people simply don't learn how to do things that still need to be done, such as driving in the snow.

working on the latest project. It'll be six canvases in total (my first piece of "art" really, if you want to say that. everything else thus far has been an observational painting) and each canvas will have about seven steps taking a total of at least two to three weeks each. I'm having a lot of fun with this. damn, I love this. why I didn't discover this sooner I'll never know. fuck this is fun.

Went to old rag but there was snow on everything so we just bouldered. Didn't even make it up high enough to do recon on the OW. Did find some nice boulders and new projects. Snowy topouts were sketch though.

Probably not given how long people have been frequenting this crag but ya never known. given how many people climb stuff and never tell anyone about it, I am always highly suspicious of FA opportunities. Yep. I just look at that stuff as a true onsight and am happy for the experience. It's always funny to find a piton halfway up an undocumented, chossy 5.9 pitch in the middle of nowhere though. You just have to laugh. I've had that happen too often. Though the kicker is talking to everyone to figure out who actually did it. There are a handful of usual suspects in VA and WV. I just assume it was one of those old bastards.
