I would love to return as it's been 14 years since I was there. You should try and get on Petrifying Wall if it's still there (not ruined by the olympic road). There are so many classics. You would be strong enough for the Grand Wall too, mate.

Boring update. Left Southern Yewtaw yesterday, hit up SLC. Went bouldering at a new spot yesterday, got passive aggressively yelled at by some 14 yr old Mormon girls camp counselors who were trying to tell us we were on their propertah. We left, my friend's GF made some snarky comments about the girls littering and not learning vauable lessons about sharing, and as we were packing up, a Po Po car showed up. Heh. Drank teh bierz and crashed at another friend's house last night, and now we're going to go hang all over Trench Warfare. Woo!

The bulk of it was hand stacks and hanging on yore feet (even cheated myself with a couple half-pad crimps, but was definitely not thrutchy, and doesn't have any moves as hard or awkward as Mother Superior. The CD is still pretty rad, though. 50 caliber Jesus is awesome. Band is called Fish Karma. Not sure what the album name is without opening my itunes.

My parents just got back frm a boring rodetrip up to the Canuckian rockies. Cool pics, prolly my old dog's last hurrah of a trip. My mom was pretty bitter that they had to stay in an $80/night KOA wall tent one night. heh.

I find that generally the grades are fairly fair, though I still haven't managed to do a 5.10 there. My theory is that the climbs aren't as continuous as say a route at the Gnu. You often have a few hard moves going over a roof or some buisness like that and some people can't wrap their heads around a distinct crux that's significantly harder than the rest of the route.

whew, just got back to Hellhio. Two straight days of driving but no major incidents, not even significant construction. Drivel is not home, but is going to be in worse shape after riding the century today. Hopefully we are not too nizzled to [redacted].

so you guys remember the "I want to call my girlfriend and have her tell me she loves me" [url= http://vimeo.com/27367910]video? And how I was like "I'm not sure I have ever been in good enough shape to push myself to that state." ? As it turns out, you don't have to be in excellent shape to go there. You just have to have some strong motivation to go way past your sanity threshold. So I rode in Pelotonia yesterday again. I was signed up for 180 miles, but I had pretty well decided that since camhat was going to be coming home last night, that I wasn't even going to try and do the second day. In retrospect, if I *had* tried, I wonder if I would have started hallucinating or fallen off my bike or something. Seems extremely likely. So I am extremely thin right now. I'm like 5 or 6 lbs lighter than I was when camhat left for the summer, for a grand total of 106-108 lbs. I'm still running probably ~12-14% body fat. And then I ran roughly a 5,000 calorie deficit yesterday. oh and it was fucking freezing all day. It was like 60 degrees all day and overcast and intermittently raining. I had a light cycling jacket that's not exactly either water- or wind-proof. It was supposed to be like upper 70s, so I did not bring a longsleeve midlayer or anything. So I was cold while riding basically all day, except when I was acutely hill climbing, but even then I ever got warm enough to take my jacket off. And I couldn't really stop for very long at a time, because to stand still was to be like, muscle-crampy cold. I was glad I'd at least brought a jacket; I felt bad for ppl in nothing but a jersey and shorts. I rode the 100 miles. I had one riding buddy for the first 70 miles or so, and in the final 30, I let him ditch me on the hills and fell in with an overweight dad with knee problems. We were a perfect match, both slow as shit but determined to finish. By the time I finished the ride, I was mentally *fucked.* I walked a few steps off the route and was met by a volunteer lady, who asked me if I was riding tomorrow and I was like... no. So she took my bike and i headed towards the massage table and my bad with more clothes in it. I was going to be warm for the first time all day, damnit. I went to empty my jersey pockets so I could lay on the floor and wait for a massage, and I was utterly confused by the contents of my own pockets. Said contents: my phone. my sunglasses. the little pouch for my sunglasses. a piece of food trash. I held it all in my hands and stared at it for a minute before I figured out that I should put it i my duffle bag so I didn't lose any of it an also be able to lay down. Once I finished getting my little massage, I hopped on a shuttle bus back to the launching area. I got off the bus and went to find my bike. It was not there. The volunteer lady said that the bike was probably on the final bike truck, due to arrive in several hours. My car keys were in my bike bag. I was like... but I turned in my bike hours ago?? I could not comprehend what I was supposed to do when I could not go home. I sat down on my bag and cried my eyes out. I called cammy, who had been home for maybe an hour after driving from Utah, to come pick me up. It's probably best that I did not try and drive home. And then we went out for steak and I looked like a junkie but I did not care. We (well, he) informed the server that I was just done doing Pelotonia, and she immediately had sympathy on me. The steak was awesome. and then [boring redacted.]

The steak was awesome. and then [boring redacted.] gud werk. sounds like driving home would have been inkerect. I assume you got yore bike back at some point? went biking this morning. had the opposite weather issues. Mandeville Canyon is a 5-mile hill, but while it was 75-80 at the bottom (in brentwood), it's 90-95 at the top because you're just about over into the san fernando valley at that point. luckily the steep section at the top is only about half a mile, so the misery is short-lived. now I'm at werk. werking the wekrs. also werked the werks for most of yesterday.

Woo! Trench Warfare should be write up yore alley. It was an asskicking, but pretty fun. The bulk of it was hand stacks and hanging on yore feet (even cheated myself with a couple half-pad crimps, but was definitely not thrutchy, and doesn't have any moves as hard or awkward as Mother Superior. Same was WTFOK has no moves as hard as Driving South. Or how Realization doesn't have any moves as hard as High E. so is teh gunks or woodson more snadbagged? in awl seriousness, the gunks did not feel that bad. Woodson is definitely one of the more snadbagged places I've climbed. I'm not sure why people get so upset at the Gunks. I find that generally the grades are fairly fair, though I still haven't managed to do a 5.10 there. My theory is that the climbs aren't as continuous as say a route at the Gnu. You often have a few hard moves going over a roof or some buisness like that and some people can't wrap their heads around a distinct crux that's significantly harder than the rest of the route. either that, or the fact that the 5.7s feel like 5.13. Ha!

drivel wrote: so you guys remember the "I want to call my girlfriend and have her tell me she loves me" [url= http://vimeo.com/27367910]video? It also turns out... there is a new bud light lime... the bud light lime Mojito! I am all about these new BLMs!!! Whoo! you are a sad man. Sad... and durnk in squamish! Nice - wish I was there! Yeah man... it is great out here. Amazing granite without the Valley bullshit. I think today is the rest day, but I may do some lite crag ging at some point. Rained for a few hours last night, bu the breeze seems to be drying things up. I brought the fly rod and may get some FISHING!! in. It really is magical out there. I would love to return as it's been 14 years since I was there. You should try and get on Petrifying Wall if it's still there (not ruined by the olympic road). There are so many classics. You would be strong enough for the Grand Wall too, mate. Hmm, didn't make it to petrifying wall. Was hoping to do the grand wall. THe day before, Cornelius popped a piece on Crime of the Century. Inverted and banged his melon. I'm pleased to report he is ok, but it took the wind out of his sails for a couple days.
