Pffft, my turkey was roasted on Saturday, and is halfway to being eaten already! I swear, these children have vacuums for stomachs! On Saturday as I cleaning up, I thought we would be eating leftovers till Christmas. This morning, as i was packing lunch, i thought, hmm, there is definitely enough leftover turkey for dinner tonight, but I am not so certain about the rest of the week. In fact, most of the side dishes are already gone, too.

Went to NJC yesterday. Did the two routes on the slightly harder side of the warm-up wall for the first time. The left of the two (the slightly harder one -- the names of the two rowtz seem to be flipped between this site and MP) has a really fun crux that I failed to onsight; very inobvious. Got on Red Devil, managed to work out the moves between a lead/stick clip run and a TR burn; with another day on it it'd have a good chance of going. crux is not easy at all. it was weird doing actual hard moves, instead of a whole bunch of easy moves on the Drive-by.

Although, fractures tend to heal faster than soft tissue injuries.

Weak-end report. So weak! The end. (O.K., now the middle part, for those who want it.) It was my first weekend leading, since surgery, and my head is messed up big time. Messed up, as in, I am freaking out while cleaning a route, let alone leading. Drove to the Red on Thursday night, after an early dinner at Heffe's uncle's. Realized on Friday morning that I made a gumby mistake of forgetting my shoes at home.... SERIOUSLY? Yes! Bought a new pair at Miguel's gear shop, fortunately the had my size, and everything was on sale bc of Thanksgiving, and (small consolation) my old shoes had blown toes and needed to be replaced, anyway. I decided to go with 1/2 size down on my testarossas bc I kept thinking the last few months that the heels were too big sill on the last ones. It seemed like a great idea in the shop... I'll let you now in a month or so Went to a new carg at MF on Friday, called Monastery. It was supposed to be sun-all-day kind of crag, but it doesn't help all that much, of the day is cloudy. We froze our asses (and everything else) off, but we climbed all day. It's a nice place, couple really cool steep 12s, that are 4 stars at least, for sure. Gently overhanging orange wall with couple O.K. 11s, and then some vertical/slabby grey rock with some 10s. Sent one of the 10s, desperately. Flailed, wailed, and bailed on everything else. But at least with the day being super-cold my new painful shoes were not so painful, os at the end of the day I was patting myself on the back and thinking that the size decision was the right one. Saturday the Cleveland guys wanted to go to Long Wall, which in my book would have been about as enjoyable as root canal, since I am not going to stick my foot in a crack and twist, for some time yet. So I went with some Fayettenam WV-nians to Solarium. Blackpointed Banshee. If there is such thing as super-blackpoint, I got it. And somehow my feet got swollen overnight, so the new shoes hurt like hell. Woke up on Sunday feeling really icky-sicky. But apparently it helps with the lead head, bc when you are sick you don't worry about your knee as much, you spread the worry among different things. Onsighted a 5.7 wearing approach shoes, bc the thought of putting new shoes on was too much for my sick head. Then sent a 5.10 I've done before, and it felt easy, for a change, even though I was still freaked out like hell. Then I went back to being sick, curled up in a ball and waited for everyone to finish climbing. At least it was warm...

How is the knee today? We had a fund raising two day mixed climbing clinic this weekend. I could critic people and give them pointers, but I didn't climb at all myself. I did hike up and down a couple big steep hills on the approach (the climbing was extreme road side though) and I was worried how it would effect my ankle. I expected a lot of swelling after Saturday, which thankfully didn't happen. There is still a little swelling though regardless. I took today off because I have a doctors appointment tomorrow to get my ankle xrayed again. I had one day of vacation left so this is it. Tomorrow I guess will be considered a sick day. I'm getting more of a sense of the damage I've done. I think I have a pretty decent sprain on the outside ankle, but I'm worried I've torn something on the front of my ankle (seems likely). Can't flex more than 90 degrees without pain. Going back to my chiropractor on Wednesday. When she saw me last week everything was still so sore there was no pin pointing where damage was, so there will be a better investigation then. I hope I get some more foot flex back, it's making it really hard to walk still.
