Thanks for clarifying that climbers like Sharma, Rands, Soles, et al don't post to this site because I post links that some people don't like. In fact, I am not even remotely the reason that they (or scientist-climbers I know, many of whom participated in rec.climbing, which really was a hostile environment) don't post here. It's the signal-to-noise ratio. And don't even think about claiming that these links are part of the noise, since, by partially recreating what was essentially the Lab's FAQ, they return a modicum of order to the forum, following the havoc wreaked by the very guy that was brought on board to build it.
Tristan, not only are you uncharacteristically on the wrong side of this issue, you have abandoned your characteristic objectivity and logic. I'm not going to repeat my reasons for posting these links. I've explained them elsewhere, in spite of what other intelligent people understand to be their self-evident nature.

I don’t understand how you a sporty can debate ethics with anyone.
You can be a very helpful guy sometimes. More often than not, you are a bully. You contribute heavily to this "hostile environment", stirring the pot as often as you can.
I’m not sure what gave you this big ego, but I am sure you are not basing it on your climbing. Maybe it is just overcompensation for something small.
I do believe that all helpful information should be available to everyone. It will enlighten us and help us make educated decisions that will keep us unharmed in another hostile environment . I wish he would leave his work available to the community.
BUT, it is not our decision, and it is not yours either. You cant just take what you want.

while I get your point, this response was still done in poor taste. The Special Olympics is actually a pretty good organization, and the people who participate (disabled or not) tend to be really good people who care a lot about other people.

Ok, so maybe I was wrong about his "rights." That doesn't change the asshattery of this whole situation. I was never prepared to take ANY side in this since I believe ALL parties were at fault, which most people understand except the ones involved. The problem I see, is that we could all be done with this but for whatever reason, people don't want it to die.

Until everyone, including dingus, stops quoting others in their posts, all content is fair game and can be "stolen" by simply quoting it. There is no difference between dingus quoting someone and jt making a link to the content.
