I started out on standard pocketed daisies 13 years or so ago, and then got frustrated and switched to adjustable daisies. I've since realized that I did that mostly because I didn't have any idea what I was doing, and i'm switching back now. Adjustable daisies wear out quickly, are weak, are more of a pain for setting up to repeated standard lengths like you do when jugging, and most importantly they are much much slower. Chris MacNamara's video tutorials on supertopo are excellent - watch them before deciding on adjustables.

I'm a big fan of the PAS which I consider an improved daisy chain. ALWAYS keep one, and sometimes 2, girth hitched to my harness. Socal's story didn't make any sense. If the guy was too tired to tie a knot, clipping a daisy chain would have been an easy solution. I've been climbing since 1967 and I've seen and used just about every piece of gear that has come down the pike and I really appreciate anything that is well made and makes climbing easier and safer, like the Grigri and the PAS.
