Sao Paulo is a big fucking city. As in, 3rd or 4th largest in the world. as in, it can take 3 hours to get from one side to the other. as in, it took us two buses and three subway lines to cross the street. me no likes big cities.

i was, however, pleasantly surprised at the price of food in restaurants there. not as expensive as I thought it would be.

In NY, if someone holds you up you might be able to bluff and talk your way through it. in Brasil, if you don't hand over your stuff then you'll be dead in less than 10 seconds. doesn't matter if it's a crowded street either.

what's amazing to see is the dvd piraters and how quickly they can fold everything up and run off. a street filled with a hundred "vendors" will be empty in less than 10 seconds as soon as the cops come into view.
