I did try going to the gym last week, and it hurrrrrt. So, it's gardening and biking and fishing for me this summer.

Speaking uv, I'm thinking of getting a hard tail...

no climbing all summer? WHy can't you tape it up?
I think he's worried that I might do damage even if I do tape it up. It still hurt like balls when I did tape it up at the gym the other night.

It is true. I worked for four whole years after law skool. Four years I will never get back. ANd a couple years longer than biner has worked.

I'm at 8 years now? Though some of that has been pretty shaky.

My older sister is a chemical engineer and she's been going on ~2 years of unemployment. She hasn't done engineering for years though and she's looking for a project management jorb. It hasn't been going well.

The april 14 entry of joe kinder's blog has some amazing photos of the limestone around Ely.

It's funny, he mentions the rumors about the stone there, rumors I myself had heard. I think I have driven through Ely 4 times in the last 5 years? I always looked from the road... and kept on going. Kudos to Joe for checking this place out.

Looks like an amazing spot to roll in and put up routes on good limestone. Bonus that it is 10 hours away, an actual makable distance in the car. Wish I had a couple hundred bolts n' hangers. Oh yeah, and a drill. I have never put up a route on good rock, it looks like a treat.

We used to go on family camping and hiking trips to Ely all the time. Did not know it had awesome limestone there, though.

I can't decide if I need to put that 10d on the list of routes to onsight ASAP, to taunt camhead about forever (a.k.a. Burning Bush and The Glass Elevator), or put it on the list of 10d's never to touch.

Awesome weekend here.

Baby Monkey finally achieved a 9.0 score on vault. And it was the last gymnastics meet of the season. Big Brother made fudgy brownies to celebrate.
Closets were cleaned, outgrown clothes donated, and all domestic pursuits accomplished.

Other than that, is was Tango and Laurent. Yep, awesome weekend indeed.

For some reason going dancing and skipping sleep has helped me finally send the gym proj, a.k.a. a boulder problem set by tall Andrew from RRC. (shortie beta includes a deadpoint, a dyno, and then a toehook-above-the-head-crossthrough-hand-foot-match-delicately-unfold-and-refold)

Did I mention that it was a pretty awesome weekend?

Good weekend at the Marmot house.

Sat - I went to the market, then we went out for sushi. The we went for a drive to find an alternate place to park and walk to a section of the old Welland Canal. They shut down the road that would allow you to access the canal from the East side, so we found a place to park on the West side and went for a walk.

Some of the highlights include a vortex in one corner of the old canal, making us realize that the water does crazy things with all those locks, etc around, and finding the Thorold Conservation Club, which is actually a hunting club and their club house is a little sketchy.

Sunday we were going to go climbing outside but it rained so we went to the gym. I did reasonable on a couple of the red problems. Clibmed until we hurt then still got home early enough for me to make a kick ass mushroom rose sauce.

Monday - I took the day off to watch Nathan become a Canadian. We then drove around the Falls for an hour trying to find a decent place to have lunch. Ended back in St. Catharines and had a good lunch.

Nathan then went back to work and went climbing for the afternoon. For being so early in the season I did really well on a route that should be kinda hard for me. Early season endurance failed me but I still did pretty good one hanging the thing in a few attempts.

okra's not too bad. brussel sprouts are kind of tasty, also.

I think I might like brussel sprout a bit more than broccoli (it's been a long time since I've had them though). I don't love either of them, but both are okay.

There's this broccoli dish at the local thai place where they put a bunch of peanut sauce on them. Now that's tastey!

Anything tastes good with thai peanut sauce.
