We didn't summit that day as we had to goof around for a while so those two could learn how to move over snow/ice. It was lucky we did cuz the dude in the middle totally wiped out and slide down a steep snow slope. He managed to self arrest just as he hit a rocky bit on the slope and bashed his shins/knee really hard on the rocks. He stopped just before his nutz/abdomen/face rattled off it. Good thymez.

There's no such thing as "too gangsta." Duh.
Haha, I guess you're right.

These were taken today. It rained on and off and we stayed completely dry. That is probably the best thing about the place. The next closest "rainy day" climbing is 4+ hours away.

that looks sweet. I'm jealous.

Haven't been climbing at all the past several weeks. finding partners has just been a pain. been productive in other ways, but not climbing. set a route the other day. first in a few weeks.

That sucks. It's hard enough maintaining partners when you're on your home turf. You seem to keep moving around down there so I would imagine it's pretty hard to get anything regular going. Might have to take up roped soloing as a supplement.

I need a car. I can take the bus, but that's a serious pain in the ass.

Yes, I could see how getting to the crag via a bus would be difficult. Perhaps you need a VESPA!

no freaking way.

actually, i've thought about getting a scooter. it'd be way cheaper than the bus every day, but the drivers here are fucking crazy. long story short, there are no traffic police here. too dangerous to walk sometimes.

The key is to be so fast and nimble on the scooter that no one can hit you.

Yeah, doesn't really work. motorcycle and scooter accidents pile up in the city by the day, so much so they need start digging ditches just to bury them all.

no way. too risky here.

The backstory to that footage is kind of funny/strange. I was down there running laps and I was feeling good so I headed to the farthest accessible pillar to work that route. It's .10a/b and I'd never soloed it, so I didn't really expect to send that day, if ever. Just wanted to check it out.

It looks staged but I had no idea that kid was filming when I walked out stretching and scoped the route. He only spoke up when I was putting on my shoes and I told him it was cool to film. I then proceeded to climb up 12-15 foot and worked the crux for ten minutes and then moved over to the arete, skipped the crux and climbed the top. I did that two more times over the next hour and a half and at some point the dude got bored and left. I never expected to actually see any of that footage, let alone edited to make it look like I sent.

As far as the route goes, I did not send that day. It wasn't till two weeks and 3 attempts later that I finally did redpoint.

yeah, totally looks staged, but cool nonetheless.

how'd you find out about it?

One of my climbing partners found it randomly on reddit. He called me up laughing his ass off to tell me about it.
Haha, that is even funnier! I thought you knew about it.

Nope. Had no idea what the footage was for.

In other news, I noticed that I was wearing fingernail polish in the video. Doesn't really help my whole "not preening" claim.

Thats fucking sketchtastic! Sounds like a place where you don't want to pay much for any vehicle because it's just going to get all fucked up anyway.

100% of my friends here have either been in an accident or have had their car broken into...multiple times.

Greg is, after all, well known for his speed and nimbleness.

Ok. That made me laugh for real. Poor bastard must have the ankles of a 90 year old figure skater by now.

I'm at my wits end with my cat... I can't take much more! he keeps me up every night!!!

I've tried all those "what your animal wants" tips... nothing has worked...

last night I gave up and let him outside...

... and he came back skunked

I really fear moving him to an apt and being driven even more mad than I already have been...

Ok, maybe not, but you might recognize that guy in the first 60 sec.

http://vimeo.com/41299606

Well, can't say aye member seaing that n the viddy.
Crazy

But otherwise good job on the send. Tongue

Oh yea and ground up! [shrug]
