Ok, no I don't...but I kind of do. I need to get outside, rather than gym session after gym session. It makes no sense. I have no rope, though, and no idea how to make an anchor, and I would probably just still hate it--but at least it would be scenic. Blugh. You know, when drinking really feels like a good idea, that's a sure sign that it's not. All right, y'all can now hate on my post. Because this whole thing is about hating. Mad

Why would I hate? I fucking love everyone.

But Srs Bznz here. If you're getting unmotivated cuz you only climb in the gym, then go for a wee boulder. You live in Virginia? There is plenty of great bouldering within a reasonable drive from you*. You will probably meet some cool people there, who you can then climb outside with more often. Just go do it.

*Warning, I completely made this up, I have no idea what I am talking about.

Here is a good book on anchors:

http://www.amazon.com/...Series/dp/0934641374

If you are a more hands on person (like me) might be wise to hire a guide and take a course.

On my single pitch, sport weenie climbs, I use two draws with locking biners, opposed. Its simple and works for me. I'm not an expert though and its possible I'm about to get flamed to the high heavens for saying that. So, maybe don't listen to me.Crazy

If you hate climbing, don't climb. The gym is for training. I still think its fun though...get some good music on ur ipod and send, send, send. The gym is so different from outside though...everyone says that and its really very true.

Yeah, gym climbing sucks. Get yourself to some outdoor areas and start meeting people. If you are honest about the extent of your experience and not a complete moron you shouldn't have any trouble finding people to climb with.

p.s. It would be a good idea to purchase a rope and bring along some beer to share.

Ok, since you did not take me up on my offer to hit the gym when I'm working in NOVA, here is different and perhaps better, although the tone of your post makes me wonder, offer. You can come climbing with me, outside, on the real rock, for real.

I was in the Shenandoah Valley last weekend, will be at the NRG this weekend and am headed to Seneca the weekend after. I climb at these places and several in NC all the time. If you seriously want to climb, are willing to drive the two hours either to the crag or a carpooling location and will furnish the ham sammiches, I will climb with you.

Oh and while I am definitely a somewhat sketchy individual (Sungam can vouch for this), I am not at all a sketchy climber (others can vouch for this).

Balls in your court, random internet person.

He's lying about the bouldering. There is no such thing as "great" bouldering. The scale runs from "Total Crap" to "Meh, that wasn't bad but I'd rather do some real cimbing". The rest of his post was mostly accurate though.

I'll let you in on a little secret....it was a all staged.

You just couldn't see the TR because, unlike Bear Grylls, I was smart enough to use a rope that actually camouflaged with the rock.

"NA" stands for notapplicable, which is that dude's username. We call him "NA" for short.
