a week ago I was belaying a friend of mine in the gym with GG and I did not have my belay card on my harness nor the visiting friend who has 15 years experience and couple of 7000m summit on her resume carried one. The new gym floor employee pulled both of us out of the floor to do a belay test and we both failed. Then he tried to get me out of the gym cause I refused to follow their new nationwide gym's rules on how to belay using GG. The situation got out of control till I asked him to call his manager and once his manager saw my face,he kind of told me to back off and go bite someone else. I told the gym floor manager on what is going on and he said that they are following the new rules that is becoming an standard in gym policies. Now for some of us who been climbing for long time, its difficult to follow this new out of book rules where most of them have no bases. In fact, some of these new belay rules or even lead climbing test rules are unsafe cause most of the gym floor managers or employees have very low outdoor or lead climbing experience and to me, if you can't lead a solid 5.10 trad climb then you got no business giving another climber a lead test period .
