Speaking of movies, I got the first season of Game of Thrones for Festivus (and a promise of the second one already pre-ordered). It's been fun watching one episode per night. Lots of sex and gore. We still haven't started Game of Throwns (Gheyme of Spies is another story). May have to start it, now that we have finished Dr. Who and Torchwood on Netflix. Also, speaking of TeeVee tawk, this is really funny. Happy birthday gimpy Teh clamhed iz teh B-day boy? WOHOO!!!1 teh clamhed iz won year closer to death. Gongradulations

Schweet Nice! My story of victory against the machine goes thusly: Flying out of Durango is a shitshow. First day we tried to get out the flight was delayed and we were going to miss our connection so we rescheduled for the next day after I talked to a very dense Indian woman for an hour or so. Next day I try to check in and don't have a seat - oversold! Go to the airport anyway and gripe to the guy a little and he's all stressed so I back oft. Put Val on the flight and wait to see if anyone gives up their seat for the travel voucher. No luck. Have seat on next flight an hour later which will make the connection very close. Waiting for it, the guy from United says "hey, you were denied boarding - you are entitled to compensation in the form of four times the face value of the ticket for the leg you were denied on". Hands me a check (not a travel voucher) for $1300! Get on the next flight, sprint from one end of Terminal B to the other with 60 lbs of carry-ons. Barely make the last connection out. Winz! Holy smokes, now that is a score. I didn't know they paid out cash, I thought it was only vouchers, tickets and coupons. Nice!

But once you factor in the traffic school and the court fee for traffic school, it works out around 400.

That's actually the only time I've ever gotten a warning for anything, usually the cops hate me. it's not just teh cops. Heh, gud poynte. Funny story that I just remembered from years back. When I first met clausti (what ever happened to her, I wonder?), we were camping and climbing on the Eastside of Cochise. East side, in my opinion, is a bit sketchier than the West side; you get away from the mountains and it's flat sprawling desolate methland, into some tiny towns and trailer parks, whereas the westside you can go to Tombstone. Anyway, one night, we were driving into one of the small towns to get showers or something, it was after dark. Car started trailing us, and then it turned out to be a cop, pulled me over just as I was turning onto the main highway. I had a burned out rear brake light. Guy didn't even mention the brake light, though. He just instantly started grilling me very skeptically. I mentioned we were camping, and he would say, "Oh yeah? Well where's all your camping gear?" And then glare in disbelief when I told him most of our gear was back at camp. Then he asked what I did, I said I was a grad student, and he cut me off, saying ever louder, "So, you don't work. You're unemployed. You're unemployed! You can just say that you don't work!" About that time, we noticed that this un-uniformed, creeping gollum type had gotten out of the cop car's passenger side, and was slouching around my truck, peaking in the window, and leering at clausti. Very obviously not a cop. Shit was weird. Anyway, I got written a fixit ticket, and that was it. But after that, the meth-heads lurking around the campground, and a few other things, we migrated over to the westside.

One of the caterers (AB *RIP* *P-BLL* shitz white pantz in rage) got one a week after I got mine. When I first went to court to enter my plea, the judge did everything she could to discourage me from fighting it. She looked at the ticket, looked at me, and said '3rd street in San Mateo?' bingo. They get a lot of those.
