the crappy thing is that I think this is the most "in" this climb has been since I've lived in the area. We plan to check it out each year, but I don't think it gets much better than this. Eventually we'll finish it, I'm sure, but with better tools, not really better conditions.
I don't think he was really being malicious. He actually came back when we were packing up and gave us some bottled water to replace what he poured out. He was a nice guy.

No, but all he said about it when he came back by later was "Be careful with the trains." We kind of figured it was obvious we not only knew how not to get killed by the trains, but had no malicious intent toward their property.

yeah, depends on where you are I guess. some companies really care about that stuff.
in el chorro, they have armed guards patrolling the tracks and the tunnel. that al quaeda thing in madrid a few years ago kind of stopped them from letting people have access to tracks. not too difficult to get around it though. people apparently do it all the time.

I wish i were in an area, now, that actually iced up. Our luck is when it snows down here. Erin hasn't hand the gumption to call/text/get ahold of me to request a snow day. I'd take a ski trip in San Diego county in a heartbeat!

Also, Laz, areas up near Portola and Grayeagle have been known to freeze consistantly in the winter. Though, much like most sierra ice, it's in when its in and gone the next day.

In a somewhat related topic. A couple weeks ago, I wus doing some cutting and drilling on a plate. Making some stuff, rock hounding pick, hacket, and ice axes. Cause homemade is phun. But the next day my back wuz strained. It been getting better, but Sat I put in some weather stripping. Now the back is soar again.
