I failed to get that memo. I'm a grad student.

Counts more than Greg. You're learning a skill. He's bumming it in S. America.

What? He is actually MAKING something, whereas anything I "produce" has but a spurious claim to existence.

True. He does make things.

But I don't make things; and yet I'm a contributing member of society...

How do you know?

He helps create/perpetuate american military superiority.

There is NOTHING more essential to our society than that.

Fuck teaching. It's Caraval!

You need to drink absinthe, smoke opium and create great works of art!

Speaking of which, hows the drug market down there? If I come down to visit and climb, will I be able to get my hands on some horse tranquilizers pretty easily?

Probably yes, but I wouldn't be involved with anything like that. I don't know what the drug market is like in the US (i.e. - I've never bought and I've never been involved in any kind of transaction or in proximity to one that I knew of), but I imagine that it's not that violent. You just don't want to get involved with the folks here.

Well damn. I just found a hair in my Pad Thai. At least I saw it before I ate it.

You have probably cut yourself on rock that dozens of other guys have sweated/bled on, but you are worried about hairs in your noodles?

Not worried. Just glad I didn't eat it.

I know, right? I think I heard of them at age 5 watching Mayberry RFD or something, but never knew what they were until last week when I bought 'em.

I have no freaking clue either, but the Weselly kid ate grits every day in the 'Gunks. It's a southern thing that quite literally is probably illegal to import north of the 36 30 parallel. Shit, it might even be illegal to import it, too.

Looks good actually. Not exactly how I imagined it, but it'll work for sure.

I won't be sharing it until all six canvases are done. So the suspense will last about six months, I figure.

Loran, you make not know the answer to this question, but I thought I'd shoot it to you anyway just in case you have some experience working with paper and glue.

I've recently painted a bunch of oils on paper (300lb) and naturally due to the moisture the paper curves inward at the edges.

I want to glue the paper to a harder surface to flatten it out and frame it after. I'm looking for a solid, cheap, light-weight surface to glue it on, so if you can think of anything that'd be helpful, but I'm really curious about the glue. Do you have any recommendations on glues that are "permanent" in the sense that they both won't come undone and affect the paper over the long term?
