I've been in my reinforced fallout shelter office all day wondering when we'll be sent home because the US is at war with another faction of some crazy. It's sad to hear about it, more so since I've seen un-filtered uncensored photos from the blasts, literally, moments from when it went live. Doubt that you'll see the shots of the guy with his legs all in spaghetti pieces on the news. Or the one with limbs her and there and blood following. Yes, it's traumatic when something of this magnitude comes home. However, it could have been worse... Going to have to pass on the more hard core stuff. What I saw was bad enough. Anyrate, thoughts a prayers goes out to those out there, freinds and family. Must be something wrong with me... that shit don't bother me. I've seen some super-HD gore in Paris when I was a kid (Was a block away from a subway bombing in 95). Some very life-like injuries in Afghanistan... Never really fazed me. the bali images were too much. Bali 2002? " An audio-cassette purportedly carrying a recorded voice message from Osama Bin Laden stated that the Bali bombings were in direct retaliation for support of the United States' war on terror and Australia's role in the liberation of East Timor." wiki Why Bali you ask? Why not some other country or city. Bali is pretty far off the map when it comes to "American interests," though it does cater to Northern Australian holiday goers. Well, the target of the two major blasts Paddy's Pub and the Sari happened to be the two clubs that were open and popular hosts and hangouts for the crews of two US warships who happened to be in port not 30 days earlier. They were proud of the patronage and welcomed the incoming crews with open arms into their establishments. I was there, 30 days before the bombings. I hasten to say that everyone on my ship knew why those clubs were the targets of the blasts. It's hard to have affection towards an establishment, especially if it's a place you visited only for four days, but reflecting back on it and realizing why it was chosen as a target instead of an equally popular spot as the Hard Rock Hotel or the adjacent shopping district can make you think hard about things. Why there? Why not the American or Australian consulate? Why not one of the many luxury hotels packed with vacationers? Why one month later? Bali is still one of my favorite countries to have visited and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. The bombings in Bali were one of my first reality checks when I was in the military. The images - again not in mainstream media - that I found were disturbing. Though not as much as some of the other things that I have seen. Kart's article above really hits the nail on the head. It could have been worse. saw some of the non main stream photos. Very disturbing. I would gather some of the workers you met there perished. Thanks for sharing. In a an odd connection. A coworker's niece knew the lady that died in Boston. Waitress at a resturant she occassioned.

It would be a cool thing to have adjacent to the shagg'n wagon when it is parked in the campgrounds. I always get a kick out of the folks who bring plants and flowers to lighten up their sites next to their trailers.

I have too much work getting in the way of actual work. I didn't plan on sitting at my desk doing paperwork this morning. I am down two personnel today and I have my fourth running around unsupervised - oh geez that 's going to be a nightmare when I show up. He's brilliant and one of the folks that I need and want around, that's why he has been sent on travel to me for a month, but he's aggressive with his scheduling and go-getter attitude. If I let him go there won't be any work for the rest of us when he leaves!

Once you figure out how to use the map, then you can get pin-point weather. I use it for my backpacking trips and it doesn't fail. and Weather Underground.
