have fun with that

Karol was told that last year they had the B52s, and all of the young employees hated them and had no idea who they were. WTF?

I got nothing for you. My condolences. But hey, at least they' Boulderite bankers right? That's gotta count for something!

You bastard. You realize the vanity search function still works here right? You're a disgrace of a former mod.

Could pay pretty well, too, but we'll see how it turns out. They still need to get the funding. But they apparently liked my translation enough to try a children's book, too.

Funny how the universe works.
Woot work!

now tired and trying get ready for the next portuguese semester and possible work opportunities here, too. anyone know any work-from-home opps out there?

How was getting into Estes Park? We are heading to CO next weekend. I heard a couple of teh roads up to Estes are still closed but one is open.. could be old info though
You're going where now????
Good gravey you get around.

We are heading out to boulder for the weekend to see what it's like. We are a bit interested in maybe living somewhere a little closer to nice mountains, and are curious if the land of fit hipsters is really the promised land they all tell me it is Tongue

Mostly we could live near mountains and still have good jobs (maybe even the same jobs, as mine has an office in Broomfield, CO)

just in general looking around to see if there is a place we like more than where we are now

Soooooo, HOW WAS IT ???

The wife and I went out for dinner and a movie Saturday night but I didn't see you around. Of course it would have helped if I knew what you look like, I was keeping my eye out for a fire breather.

Im surprised you didn't just see one randomly :P

it was a lot of fun! we went up to Rocky Mountain Nation Park on Sat. It was a really pretty drive up there.

Sunday we hiked at the flatirons and drove all over. Drove through boulder, over to golden, through Bloomfield.

thoughts:
fall is gorgeous out there
I loved the weather
I loved the bike paths
no one was douchey or mean to us
sat night the homeless peeps were out in force at I THINK the library... I'm not totally sure how I feel about that aspect...

saw a radom girl playing the harp
had a homeless person ask for food instead of money (that was new to me)

Golden was nice but I'm not sure why it was hyped up to me so much by multiple people

If I were to live in boulder I would need to be a millionare because I want the cute house that backs up to the mountains :P

We liked it enough to still be strongly considering a move... I think the only decision would be were specifically to be... I love the location of boulder seconds from the mountains, but it is pricy and the main roads busy for a fairly small place

I bet half of those homeless people crank 5.13 on their off days.

I think the idea of Golden is that it's still close and you don't need a trust fund to live there.

I think thats right and there are a couple of towns that fit that description. Boulder is cool but maybe a bit too cool. Like, obnoxiously so. Based on my limited experience, I don't think it would be my first choice.

Apparently there is only one road open into Estes Park (through Boulder). We got there just fine. I'd check with your accommodations, though. Some hotels are in a no-flush zone still. The wedding had to be completely rearranged as a result of this. But the park is open. Not everything is open for driving, but we went in a few times with no problems.

Awesome!

yeah we are staying in boulder, and it looks like our hotel is ok... was hoping to check out the park if even in a limited fashion, so I'm glad to hear you were able to go in Smile

New Boulderite here. Heh.

From Boulder you head up Boulder Canyon to Nederland, then take the Peak to Peak highway into Estes. Just a bit over an hour, but a gorgeous ride. Boulder Canyon and a lot of the Flatirons are open to climbing, as is Lumpy Ridge , but Eldo is closed. For Sport, Golden & Clear Creek is only 45 minutes.

How long are you in town? And git off ma lawn!!! Mad

Ha! Hope slandering your new home didn't cost me coach surfing privileges this spring...

Life has been kind of distracting lately, so little posting. A decent amount of climbing has happened. Lots of soloing. Just got back from two days at Linville Gorge in NC. Did a bunch of the classics. Had never been there before so it was all onsight. Super fun.

Though I think Aric might be on to something with regards to the new owner. Still, it's WAY creepy to be stalking an internet chat forum owner.

I'm for the change, this site needs something to put the warmth back into the blood. Stir shit up. Get things moving. Rebrand....

Does it really affect your daily life? I think that the only one who it would have any effect on is Jeff. But for us, the chance of change is a good thing. Right now things are the same, if not finally a bit stagnant.

No, it doesn't, but it would be nice to know his position on the community. I do like it here.

There is a realization with whomever owns/operates this site that it is the community that keeps this place going. Back before corporate ownership this place was pretty grass-roots. The leftovers are still around with those of us who have those silly little stars next to our names.

Jeff sees and understands that it will be the community that makes or breaks the site.

I've been around here long enough to remember the days of Trevor, rrrAdam and Tim management very well. Good times, in some respects, but there were issues then too--as with each of the various incarnations of RC.com over the years. I wish good luck to Jeff in making this place hum once again.

It's only the direction of the community that I'm curious about. I figure he'll try to keep things about the same with better moderation.
