If you're checking out MASS CLIMBERS for the first time, here's the deal - we're in Massachusetts (physically or metaphysically), we climb. A while ago we started this thread to organize small gatherings so we could meet new climbing partners, welcome new climbers, improve as climbers, and drink beer. Yes, it's a long thread. No, we don't spend all day on here, it just seems like it. Welcome. Here's the primer, courtesy of cracklover.
In reply to: I realize that it may not be that clear what this thread is about. Just so you know, the primary purpose of this thread is to organize climbing with each other. Secondary is to share beta on the climbs of the region, and encourage each other in our progress. Third, of course, is social. It's hard enough for those of us who do have valid contributions to stay on track here. So if you do have something valid to add, please step up. If not please step out. Check out the MASSACHUSETTS ROUTES DATABASE. For historical purposes, the following information is being left on this post without editing. For recent information, check out the later pages of the thread. Good luck keeping up with us! Mass Climbers Calendar February ... Congrats to the MASS CLIMBERS Godfather "Bonesz." He's a real father as of this month. We're celebrating this year by having an extra day to climb. Banff Mountain Film Festival is in Summerville this month. The last month of "winter" rock climbing - don't wait til March. Be hard core. THIS MONTH MASSCLIMBERS BECAME THE #1 REPLIED-TO THREAD ON THE SITE. WE NEED LIVES!!!1 January ... some fools like ice, others like C-Wall, still others are finally pulling plastic. The David Brashears film Everest returns to imax theatres this month. Check out this link to see the description and movie times in Boston and Natick. It's bouldering season, kids! Get out there and send! Don't forget your handwarmers. The rock is outdoors 12 months of the year, you should be too. December ... die-hard mofo's still climb outdoors. the scene is at Lincoln Woods in RI. Check it out. [brown]November[/brown] ... foo b q? anyone? October ... RC.com Rumney Gathering part deux, info on rc.com somewhere September ... Adopt-A-Crag: Lookout Rock, Northbridge on Sept. 6 ... MASS CLIMBERS Everst Day 2003 on Sept. 13. August ... no events, just get out there and climb ... ########## What is this thread? More importantly, what has this thread been and what will it be? It has been a place for climbers from and around Massachusetts to find out about mini state gatherings. It has been a place for the "join me at (insert crag name here) on Saturday" posts, and the "we climb at BRG on Thursday evenings" info ... it has been the perfect partners thread. I even met my future wife on this thread (that last one is not true, actually). What will it be? Hopefully it will continue for a while to be a good place for people to meet up with partners and find out info about when MASS CLIMBERS are meeting up. A little history for you ... A number of Mass Climbers itching to get outdoors in the middle of winter started talking about setting dates for meeting new partners and getting back outside as soon as possible. We started with a day at Quincy Quarries on 1 March, but were rained out of our plans for an April meeting on the 12th at Rose Ledge. Go to the end of this here thread and get in on the action. MASS CLIMBERS are good, simple folk who enjoy all types of craggin and are proud of our little rocks and the big ones in the states nearby. Welcome! Check back often for info.

I've never been to Quincy Quarries but it sounds good to me. I can't wait to get back outdoors, so if I see that groundhog I'm gonna kick his little butt! Let me see if I can get the day off from work and I'll get back to you.

i can't plan that far in advance but rose ledges is probably okay with me. i think i may have devised a scheme that will allow me to show at QQ for a couple hrs of climbing before i have to head off and do family duties...just enough time to stymie you all with my amazing climbing ability and then leave in a blaze of glory.... yeah right.....

Hi folks, as you can see from my sig, I live in Milford MA, where's Rose Ledge from there? I'd be interested in getting out to that, if it's not TOO far away... not sure about the 1st of march. in the other thread I mentoined that I climb weekly at Gravity in franklin...anybody else on this board go there? I just started climbing regularly last november...I used to go to REI every saturday back about 5 years ago and climb the arch, and I've done some scrambling at a couple local no-name outcroppings I never climbed seriously outside, so are we talking top rope, lead, bouldering, or what?

Oh Man, the Quarries are lookin schweeeet ... Ejlim and I went out there today to check out the winter craggin scene. It went well. Temperatures were in the 40s and we were in T-shirts at the Reflector Oven Wall (aka C-Wall). We had to dig out of the huge snowdrifts at the base of C-Wall in order to climb on it ... By the time we finished chowing some lunch the areas we cleared at the bases of the climbs we wanted to do were dry. We TR'd a couple and I led one as well. All in all it was a good trip. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you folks there March 1st. Hopefully there will be less snow at the base and we won't have to do much digging. I just wanted to drop this note in here that on a warm day like today, there are a number of climbable lines, not just on C-Wall, but on Knight's Wall, L-Face and Painted Face in the afternoon as well. I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you ever believed it was gone, the climbing season is here. If you're looking to get outside, and the weather is in the upper 30s or higher, don't wait. And if you haven't said you'll come on March 1st because you think the weather will stink, remember that our backup plan is to meet at the gym. Let's get a few more in on this. o.k.

In reply to: Hey, the forecast for this Saturday (March 1) is for fun in the sun! Don't let the nasty weatherman scare you with tales of highs in the 30s. The solar oven that is the C-wall is usually 10 degrees warmer, and cut off from the wind. Seriously - I speak from experience! Anyway, unless the forecast changes for the worse - I'll be there. Probably around 10:30. I'll post a note on the BRG board too. GO awesome. see you there

saturday plans have changed, and there is a window of opportunity for me regarding the QQ climb , though I'd likely have to bail early... don't want to say it's a definite yet, but the odds just got a lot better ;-) on the QQ directions, is it referencing 93 north OUT of boston? *edit* never mind, I'm hooked up, thank you mapquest!

Up here in New Hampshire we have three feet of snow by our driveway and it's hard as steel. Might possibly be time for my first-ever trip to QQ. Is Stewart Green's New England guidebook enough info to get there, or is there extra beta an out-of-towner should know about parking, finding folks, etc.?

From the north: -Exit 8 ( Furnace Brook Parkway) off 93 South, after you get through Boston. - At end of exit ramp turn right onto Riscuitto Dr. (Between the Mr. Tux and the big granite "Quarry Hills" sign. - straight up the hill to either the first or second parking area on right. Can't miss it. from the south is a little trickier but essentially the same. Just have to negotiate this rotary... www.bostonrocksonline.com actually uses QQ as it's online sample. You can view directions and a few of the route maps online in pdf form.

Hey guys, FWIW, I just swung by the quarries on my way back to work form Home Depot, (SHHH, don't tell) wall looks clean and dry. Except it's snowing right now so I don't know what accumulation is expected. The first parking area you see is fairly packed down and accessible. A little choppy but my Escort got in and out OK. Don't know about the second. If it's where I think it is there is a big gate there and it's completely plowed in. Bring your big 4x4's. All the snow is tight packed and if you stay light footed you won't break through. The ice at the bottom is plenty thick, evidence of a fairly recent campfire. That's how I went in. Didn't scope out up top as I came in the bottom. Hope you all have fun. I trust someone will post a cool TR. Wideguy

Hey bud, thanks for the report. Sorry to hear you can't make it. As far as parking goes, we should be fine if we ALL PARK ON THE QUARRIES SIDE OF RISCUITTI AVE. Just stay close to the side and if we're all on the same side no problem, right? See you all there!

I just checked weather.com and tomorrow is supposed to be mostly cloudy, 37F, the doppler showed only one band of precipitation off to the south (which must be the stuff that's falling there now) but nothing else out 1800 miles.... just might be cold, with not much sun to warm the wall(s)... unfortunately I'm still not a definite for tomorrow. It's very possible, but I really won't know for sure until the morning...

I'm so looking forward to this, first to meet all of you extremely gah-roovy peeps, second to climb ! I am bringing typ trad gear, lots of slings and biners, Shtuff for TR and my spanky new ropes, a 70m 10.5 and a 60m 9.6 rough em up ! I also have an extra harness and basic TR gig, atc, locking biners chalk bags. So if you forgot something ask bonesz he's most likely got it. I'll be there at 6am tying to figure out what "c" wall is to avoid embarassment.. (just kidding about the 6am) Oh, I may need a hand or three, to get all the goodies to the crag... See you there    :P

nice, I'm not the only one psyched ... one could make the arguement that this is the beauty of Massachusetts Craggin - you can be chillin at home in the morning then leave for a short drive to a decent crag ... ok so the temperature sucks, but C-Wall will provide the goods. Bonesz, you better not get there too early, I want hot coffee today. Hahaha.

Out side at last, it wouldn't have been as much fun without you all. You are all very cool folks, I'll get coffee for ya anytime ! Lots of fun ! Rob you made me look really bad, did you not redpoint anything today ? Ugh, I'm out of practice on real rock. Oh, and I'm very envious of all your racks. I guess I'm a pubescent gear buyer  We'll see 'bout that next time...

Today was awesome! I love meeting new people to climb with and sharing ropes. Way too many donuts, plenty of coffee, lots of rock to climb balmy temps in the upper 30s, WHAT A BLAST! Alright, so I'd like to do a "roll call," if I may, because my memory is so bad. here are the people I can instantly remember as being there. Please help me add more. orangekyak ambler multisport bonesz tcollins jumarringjeff foograbbinstone robbovius centmass cracklover stellalpina eljaguar mcsurley mcsurley's bud pre-rc.com'ers - dan and jackie This list represents, geographically, jamaica plain, waltham, somerville, cambridge, gloucester, milford, durham (nh), leominster, and more ... I apologize to those whom I've already forgotten, and to mcsurly and pal for forgetting your identities. Can someone help me clarify and complete this list? Thanks, o.k.

OK, some folks wanted me to post the routes that were climbed today. I'll do my best. First, let me put the link here for the C-Wall page in the QQ routes dbase. http://www.rockclimbing.com/...n.php?SectionID=5799 You'll notice that the routes are not ordered L->R like they should be, because the recent site improvements have rendered the ordering function dysfunctional. Sorry ... So at C-Wall, as I remember it, there were the follow ropes (listed L->R ) left-most - to the left of orange paint is blood streaks, 5.9. to the right is ceaseless turmoil, 5.8. left of center - straight over the overhangs is satisfaction, 5.6. the right side of the overhangs is double overhang, 5.6. center (over what I call the arrowhead flake) - from bottom-left side of flake straight up is thin spot, 5.7. from left of flake trending right to top of flake, then straight up is yellow spot, 5.5, straight up middle of flake to top is flake direct, 5.6, right side of flake to top of flake and straight up is yellow spot alternate start. right of center - palm, 5.7 right - dan's rope, I believe he had it up over starlight (roof problems) and small ceiling (right of roofs). I also saw ascents of Lurch Direct and Layback on L-Face, and heard that there was climbing on M-Face (brrrr). Again, I hope you will post what you climbed, expecially if I didn't mention it. I'll spray first (shocker:shock:). I climbed constant absurdity, double overhang and palm. How bout you? (and don't forget to enter your climbs into the dbase)

hmmm was so high on crack I don't quite remember what I climbed... think i did 'em all on the C wall. attempted a hard 5.9 or something on the M-face next to the doods that were dry-tooling. bailed on a lead as well which ended up as the humorous entertainment for all who watched and scared the hell outta me. my feet are still frozen...

Lessee, I believe I tr'd 8 lines on the C face; solo-tr'd that blocky steep thing some fellow had set up near the entrance to the C face quarry; then finished the day by tr-ing the cold 5.9 crack that Jeff mentions on M face, and Lieback on the whatever (L?). Sorry I can't give route names -- I'm not too clear on what anything was.

Great fun. Special thanks to my belayer for his patience on those two projects I fell up. Many apologies for all the crumbly rock and muddy water I dropped on your head. All the climbs I did were in Swingles, and don't have names yet, but if I may be so bold, they were (from L to R): Face Forward 5.9. (Climb the face just to the right of the dihedral w/out using the obvious crack). Crack Whore 5.8 The painful hand crack that goes up and left. Finger F*ck 5.11+(?) The finger crack full of moss and water. Diagon Ally 5.10+(?) Up the face on left side of arete for 8-10', then follow diagonal ramp up to same anchor as FF. Right Makes Light 5.5 The arete. GO

Hey ! Bonez, Jeez I dunno, did I? you mean going right up first try, right? I can't even think of the route names, but I know I climbed at all four ropes that were set by you guys on C-wall, and a couple of them, twice...I got up the "palm" thing first with jeremy's helpful beta, and slipped off the Blood Streaks/Ceaseless Turmoil(?) thing at the very bottom after setting my 2nd foothold (it was the wet shoes! I swear!), but then figured it out. All the routes were very challenging for me, what with those teeny tiny wrinkles for toe and finger grips...except for that one slip at the start of blood red, I didn't peel off anything else as I recall. After I did all the ropes (except for that guy dan's) on C-wall, I walked over to where Bonez was (where all those decline walls are, opposite the tall peak with the many cracks, where jason was setting up ropes. ) and scrambled to the top of that peak and took a picture of the beantown skyline in the distance. that scrambling was scarier than any of the roped routes I did on C-wall ;-) I wanted to stay and try out that wall jason was setting the anchor for, but I had to bail out for kid stuff...next time I really wanna do those cracks, it looks very appealing/scary...and we should set up a couple ropes on that decline wall eh? there's TONS of pins/bolts/pipes in the rock up top... anyway I'm still ridin' the glow, it was a blast! Gravity just won't be the same ;-) whoever esle took digipics, let's try to consolidate an Archive so we can all see what each other took. gonna go back and work on the pic pages... Robb

check out the rose ledge page in the Mass routes dbase. I'm going to update the first post in this thread to start gearing people up for the RL gathering. The QQ gathering was a lot of fun so hopefully people will be interested in driving a little ways to enjoy Mass craggin. The drive is about 90 minutes from Boston. I know that seems far to most of us, who are used to 20 minutes to the Quarries or whatever, but compare it to 135 minutes to Rumney and it's not too bad. Anyone have an idea for a rain scenario? Make a rain day (the next day, sunday the 13th) or move it to a gym? ideas? o.k.

awesome, elena ... we might want to hold off on settling all the rides yet, because we might be able to meet at someplace like blockbuster in acton to carpool out there. We can reduce the number of cars going out there and stuff. so let's phrase it like this ... who wants to meet at blockbuster in acton (Dunkin is right around the corner) at 830 am on the 12th of April? I'll be there.

Forget Blockbuster, let's just meet at the Dunkin ... to get to this Dunkin in Acton - take rt. 2 West through Concord and continue West on Rt. 2 after concord rotary. At first light (about a mile) after rotary get in left lane. go straight at light but exit left onto rt. 111 about 100 yards after light. go about 500 yards on 111 until you see a shopping plaza on your right. turn right but go past blockbuster and shoppin plaza on this side street. go up small hill and turn right into second smaller plaza (middlesex bank, dunkin, t.c. landos)... sniff the air for dirty climber smell and search out a black VW gti ... that's me and my rig :)

Hey All, It was great to at least have met some of you even though I wasn't able to climb. It was eating my alive to stand there and watch so I felt it was better for my sanity to leave the scene. Words can't describe how pissed I was. The upside is that I spent the afternoon in my basement figuring out my Reverso. I'm up for Rose Ledge and once again will bring a wife for the group. I've got room for 2 more in my car (I'm in Medford or Medfid if you're from the area). I'll be at the BRG on Wednesday or Thursady night if anyone's around. Hey Rob, Sweet pics (who's the hammerhead in the red jacket? He sure doesn't look like he came to climb.)

Jeremy, make me a definite for the Rose Ledges thang, I dunno if I'll meet you guys in Action tho, simply because that's kinda outta the way for me coming from milford, so best I just show up at the crag...I'll bring a cooler fulla sodas or something. I have to add, anybody who want's to make another trip to QQ between now and then, let me know! I know I could make time between now and 4/12 to hit the Quarries again. OH, I'll bring the digital camera again too...hopefully by then my climbing partner will be well enough to tag along.

I'm thinking of the QQ for the weekend if the forcast is ok. Buying my wifey a harness, she'll be the belay diva. She's interested in it, (for muscle tone; yeah right, she wants to keep me away from the females) So perhaps we'll meet again, Got to warn ya I'm an early rizah. Only a little coffee this time..

I'll most likely be there, the wife insisted that I USE her as my belay....so no other cu -tees would have my life in their hands. Got her the new Singing rock "regge" harness, it's nicer than mine :( and couse of the size doesn't fit either. I figure the QQ would be a good place to acclimate her to the idea. I'll see you soon. Hey folks, farasnyl10 PM'ed me looking for something to do Sunday. If the weather doesn't cooperate, why don't one of you plastic-heads pick her up at alewife or something and take her to BRG? She's stuck in town waiting for her friend to take her to Nelson (WVA). I'd do it but I have to lead a trip this weekend. Someone show the girl some southern hospitality (I think she's from Maine, lol) ...

Hi everyone, I just moved to Massachusetts and would like to join you on your next trip if there's room. Any plans before the Rose trip in April? Until then, you can probably catch me bumming around BRG after the 9-5 grind if anyone needs a belay. -Pete

I'll definitely be at the BRG. Last weekend was fun, but this weather is not conducive for rock climbing outdoors. Not for me, anyway. I hope I'll see some of you at the BRG? I'll be there all morning, and into the early afternoon. GO

I keep forgetting to mention (off-topic stuff coming) but my band is playing tonight at the Landing Strip Cafe in mendon MA, directions to the bar can be found on the band website thru my profile...hey, we're a ROCK band, this is about ROCK climbing, so I guess it IS on topic after all ;-)

GOOD MORNING Kiddies, it's going to be a beautiful day at the Quarries, a crispy start early in the morning warming up to 47 degrees ! Which on the rock translates to above 57..... Bring your water bottles and milk crates, cause there is gonna be some climbing going o-n-n. Your all sick, what the heck are you doing up so early anyways ? I'LL SEE YOU AT THE CRAGS !

*comf* all those who couldn't make it. The weather was great but we should have brought a boat to belay from. I have tape shaped tan-lines on my hands and major tannage on my face. Now everyone can tell what I was doing (not studying). Just another fun day out at the quarries. Nice whipper!

Met up with wideguy there, had several good climbs. my oldest daughter Haley came along and really got into it *psyche!!!* I think she's gonna accompany me and her brother regularly...I'll work her into it , and eventually talk her into coming to QQ.. heh, my evil fatherly plan! was that big area of ice all melted at C wall?

WOW ... I'm so jealous that you got to climb this weekend. Did some snowshoeing on Mt. Adams and stayed at a cabin up there with 11 students this weekend ... fun, but still work (and definitely not climbing). I wish I was there with ya ... oh well, I'm going to Tennessee next weekend ... Today looks nice too (Sunday). Someone distract my girlfriend - I'll grab my rack and be at the quarries in 30 ...

Sup yaahll OMG!! The weather was so beautiful!!!! With the sun reflectiong of the snow it was like an oven. Too bad that also incresed the seepage along with the fresh snow.......................but that all adds to the Ambi'ance It was good to see a few familiar faces, and to meet a few more!! Got my ash handed to me by a .9-.10a sport ,still not sure wich!! Tooled a sweet 20' that tossed centmass for a ride! then On my 2nd assualt couldn't quite make the last bolt before the t/o and wished my helmet was on my head instead of keeping a sitting rock safe from harm, and took a nice one again. Thankfully on both occasions I had some great belay's,Thanks again.!!! Bonesz is the man again he brought Java and goodies----------plus he brought a huge piece of rubber roof that made a great belay/changing station----------------and yes I'm sayin it out loud that flake was Wet!! oh and those of you who didn't show up Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo we missed ya but not that much cause we were climbing!!!! foo

I'll be the "accomodater" any time, any where. You folks know how to have a good time. My alter ego says that I can do a lot more, It's nice to have met people with both intelligence and a sence of humor. By far the best , high quality peeps I've ever met. I got off clean, never a suspicion. :D I'm psyched to have had the opportunity to invest time with y'all, although you all make it look too easy. Tape is of the gods !! Feel free to give me a call, 978-828-9992 to firm up plans or if you need coffee ! Y'all rock.

foo - what sport route? Do you mean Needles? You're one lucky camper - last time I checked, that sucker was protected by 1/4 inch buttonheads. Yeah, I've held small falls on one of the bolts, but man - you're a brave soul - those things are ticking time bombs! Oh, and I've led it too. :) Nice climb, eh? GO

yeah they looked alil rough but when your up there and there's nothing else ,,,,,,,,then they'll have to do. I'll tell ya the 2 I dropped on took some decent falls. There wasnt much to cling to up there either Not sure If it was called needles or not but I'll take your word on it,it was only 4-5 bolts to the top ,on M-face between tensile strength .9+ and Bombay .10. lol just thinking about it heheheeeeeeh 8)

Four bolts, bit of a runout between 3 and 4. Yup, that's Needles - as in Pins and Needles. Nobody hammers pins into Pins (the crack just left of the climb you led) anymore, but the 1/4 inch needles are still sticking out of Needles! I'm not sure how hard it is, 9 or 10, but at the time I led it, it was the hardest route I'd ever flashed. Sure felt good! Seriously, though, the climb should really have those bolts replaced. I strongly suggest that until then, anyone who leads it should try really hard not to fall on those bolts. Cheers! GO

It was an interesting belay I tell ya. Mike gets up there and clips in, 'they look ok' I'm feeling good, until he get's to the 3rd and relates that 'it's a little sketchy'. Now I'm just sittin there waiting for him to peal and pop one as I try to run my fat arse backwards to get the slack in. Thankfully I did't have to exert myself. :D It was a great day out there, although a tad damp in some of those cracks. Bonesz, glad you got away with it. you had me worried as you were leaving. Figured your wife would be dumping you body in QQ like in the old days. See ya'll TD

Thinking I should have stayed to the left of that last bolt I clipped instead of being underneath it , that would have given me the move . I was trying to work back over and was seriously spent from hanging in that precarious position and extremley glad those bolts had a generous amount of life left in them!!! All in all it was fun,but I need to go back and send it. Foo I'm glad you didn't have to exert yourself too TD!!!!! hehehe

Well, having changed back into the work cloathes I had, and stopping at the shop in Billrica, swapping trucks; mine for the company truck I left in that morning....helped a lot. I had (usually have) a good daily burn on my face, she knows I was outside. When asked "how was your day ?" I replied, ' good mostly hung around, had coffee, ' Does this make me a closet climber ? Got good beta on who makes "bigger" harnesses. I'll get her out there soon, My bro-in-law is on spring break from the 14th till the 21st, I'll grab nim by the neck and make him hump my gear next time. If the weather is good, I'll certainly be thare again, this time I'll tell mumma !

[#006600:17617e6f59]Jeremy- I am a definite maybe. I should have the day off but, yet again, I must wait for the schedule to actually hit the wall to be sure. Count me in for now and I'll let you know if something goes awry. I should be seeing you at D&D for another caffeine fix on the way up.

I'm new to the area so I wouldn't mind getting a flavor of other crags around here. Is there a place other than QQ that's decent this time of year? If not, Quincy is fine with me.

[#006600:03c6bf9d5e]sillymnkee- QQ isn't even really good this time of year, but it is climbable and we just couldn't wait any longer. There are some other good climbs in the immediate area, and some really nice stuff if you don't mind driving a few hours, but we might have to wait a couple more weeks for the weather to cooperate before we get a decent day of climbing in. In the forseable future we do have a this Rose Ledge group climb, on April 12th, and another one at Redrock in Gloucester, on May the3rd, already in the works. I know it seems like forever away so if you really need to get you climbing fix there are a couple of climbing gyms in the area (Boston Rock Gym, Gravity Rock Gym, Vertical Dreams, Boulder Morty's, RI Rock Gym) to satiate your hunger.

Bonez, 7:30 A at QQ? hmmmmm...a morning climb might actually be workable, it'd have to be a early day for me, got much activity planned that I can't get out of... I'd have to bail out by noon, latest, unfawchanetly you KNOW I wanna drag that new stuff out ;-) lemme see what I can work out, but I ain't makin' no promises yet.

Quincy was quite nice last weekend, though a little muddy when the snow started melting. If its going to be clear and in the 50s I'll probably end up there sometime with my friends. Hope to see you guys.

You silly geese ! I didn't mean that anyone else should be there at 7:30 ?! I'm prone to wake up between 4-4:30 am to go to work, after 17 years of that you can't sleep later, no matter how drunk you get the night before  . I'm more or less shooting for that time, A: cuz it's peaceful that early B: so I can just be all set up if / when peeps arrive C: So I don't waste any prescious climbing time D: I'm in the mood to put the guide book to the rock, and see if I can identify the routes. Feel free to sleep in, I'm sure I could keep myself busy, practicing self rescue and placements. Besides I want to get a good pkg spot again ! On the menu this weekend...cold cuts, munchies, sodas, water. Any preffrences better PM me so I get it. Soon I'll be humpin the weber grill too 8)

hey folks, i'm not going to make it out to QQ this weekend, as I've sprayed before, I'm going to Tennessee (hehehehehe) to climb at T-Wall, Foster Falls and perhaps Obed. A couple quick notes from me ... Multitad - I'll update the first post to reflect your desire to attend Rose LEdge and meet us at Dunkin in Acton. Bonesz - check out the QQ page again - http://www.rockclimbing.com/routes/listArea.php?AreaID=1003 I tried making a usable "topo" - really more of a wall locator. Compliments the routes section well. TO ALL MASS CLIMBERS - TWO REQUESTS .... 1. Please go to the routes dbase (link I just posted above) the day after you go climbing and enter your climb on the routes in there. Why do this? It adds to the beta for the climb, lets you spray a little, makes my posting look a little less like spraying (hehehe), and shows the rest of the folks on here exactly how active and awesome we MASS CLIMBERS are. Do it folks, it's fun. 2. SUBMIT PICTURES TO THE SITE ... We really need some pictures of climbing at the various crags ... ESPECIALLY CROW HILL ... I'm sick of seeing that kayak picture (obviously I don't have a problem with kayaks, but come on). And have a safe fun weekend. I look forward to climbing with y'all very soon. It's going to be time to start talking about April Rumney trips soon ...

I have kind of an odd request, Um the next time someone goes to the BRG, could someone check the lost and found for my eye glasses ? The one /only time I was there I left em on a changing bench by the little changing booths near the front...I just realized that's where I had them last. They are squarish , brownish rims by Armani, the ear rests are slightly chewed up, and the lenses are a bit scratched. In general they are a little pair of glasses. It would be greatly appriciated, your reward for this tastk, will be food, of your choice :D

I could climb on Saturday or Sunday. If we climb Saturday then I plan on climbing Crow Hill on Sunday where the extra warmth is necessary. Guess I will be there Saturday dressed warmly unless someone feels strongly about it.

I always thought Cro-magnon was an 11? Anyway, it's a hell of a nice route. Ditto for Tarzan. If anyone's headed out that way sometime soon and needs a partner, give me a shout. I've been wanting to lead Tarzan for a while now. I think I might have to bag out on QQ. Sorry. If it's warm enough, I'm going to give Rumney a shot on Sunday. Have fun! GO

Yeah, I'm thinking the group thing on sunday, it'll be warmer and it'll give me a chance to spent time with the bro-in-law. He's pumped. It'll also take the pressure off to get all the food tonite, so I can spend some time with the gerl I married. I'll still plan on going earlier than later, gots to hear what the rock says

You guys missed a great day, I got there at 8:am, and hooked up with a group of four climbing C-wall, set up my rope over the Flake routes in the middle... my very first anchors ion C-wall were bomber thank you very much... after I set up (and triple checked) the anchors I used my grigri to self belay down the face, worked mint! climbed a bunch on all three ropes on C-wall , and then pulled my rope and went over to L-face, there I hooked up with Jumaringjeff and foograbbinstone. I set up my rope over the face (Jeff double-checked my top rope anchor knots after i['d got done setting up.) in between the cracks and the corner, and got my ass handed to me several times trying to get barely 8 feet off the ground... finally with enough coaching (and grunting and groaning and cursing) and solid rope pulling by jeff I made it about 3/4 of the way up...tough route! Jeff thanks for pulling hard on the rope, I wouldn'a got up otherwise ;-) that route kicks ass! of course, Foo made it to the top, but not without struggle... I also bumped into two other Gravity Regulars Don and Lauren, with a couple other friends of theres. my feet hurt and my fingers hurt and I'm gonna have a kick ass bruise on my knee from one swing I took on theat last route... great day!!!! forgot to takew pics oops! oh well fricken beauytioful weather!!!
