People from out of state. Real beer here is expensive. A six pack of corona extra is $12 and so on. The liquor store also keep it warm and is often skunky. There are good local brews but they are weak. I myself cherish good beer from out of state. I'm sure that I would be willing to show people the better climbs in the area with a good beer in hand.
The airport is about 20 -30 minutes from LCC. You could cab it for about 30-40 bucks maybe. I'm not sure. However I'm sure anyone who needs a ride to the airport won't have problem finding one.

mmmmmmm, beeeeerrrr...

Didn't I see something earlier about bail money?

I will bring a load of "regular" beer: Bud, Bud Light, etc.

How about wood?

Anybody know if there is burnable wood near the campground, or do we need to import some of that as well? (some popular camp grounds are picked clean of dead wood...)

We GOTTA have a FIRE!

I see alot of beer snobs are coming to the gathering

Enough with the complaining about Utah's liquor laws--climbers get just as drunk here as anywhere else. I'll bet most of you have never had the chance to try a Polygamy Porter or Captain Bastard's. You can haul beer across the country if you like, personally I'll save hauling beer for big walls in Zion!

Maybe I'll bring a couple of kegs down from wyoming. But my sherpa and baby-sitting fees will increase exponentially.

wyoclimber -

I have some wood I could bring..not seasoned very well yet, but it burns.

Especially after a liberal dosing of stove fuel.

I'll see if I can pile some in my car for the trip.

I plan on going. I was wondering if anybody wants to halp me learn how to Trad? I've started gathering equipment, and by june i will have more, i know that my collection will not be complete, because i'm going to moab next weekend and that's going to cost me a few hundred bones. But i was thinking.. hey with all these nice people hanging around in one spot, i'm sure i can get some good bouldering in, since LCC has a bad azz collection of boulders, but i am also hoping that some of you could impart some of your nkowledge of trad to me. Do any of you have children that you plan on bringing to the LCC gathering? Just wondering,.. I have 2 kids, so i know that i am not going to be camping up there, i probably won't even bring em, unless i know there's other kids for them to play with.. Just some things in me head..

Peaze,
frawg

frawg,

I have a son, but he'll be vacationing with grandma that weekend. Then again, we're in Texas so it's not exactly a day trip for us.

On another, somewhat unrelated note, I'll be arriving at the SLC airport around 11a on Thursday. I'm travelling solo and would interested in bumming a ride or splitting a rental or something.

Let me know,
Amber

I think there's enough rides goin around, again if anyone needs one just give me a holler. Another helpful hint, I work at the airport and know a few people. So if anyone has trouble with baggage and losing your gear let me know and I can probably save you a lot of time. Can't have anyone showin up to climb without your gear right!
See everyone in June.

AWWWW CRAP! I wondered how long it would be before I actually got permission to go. Yeah! This sounds like its going to be a blast!!!

I just need to know a few things first:

Errmm.....Is anyone driving through St. Louis and back, and wouldnt mind giving me a ride.If you can, you will be my saving Grace (ill pay gas money)!!!

I would enjoy mostly bouldering, and maybe some sport, and not too many people have discussed the options of bouldering very much. could someone give me the fyi on that. Im not on the list yet, but once i get a ride there/back, im sure as hell coming....too bad i can drink beer yet

miiq, I messaged you about a ride. Also, whos got time for another trad wannabe? I'm also hoping there is a easy 2-3 pitch route I can get someone to drag me up. If your a traddie, dont be suprised if this big dumb lookin guy starts following you around with all his shinny new gear

Anne,

That sounds like a great idea .. I'll PM you, and we can work out the details from there.

Also, I think it's safe to say that any and all experienced trad climbers should just expect a small fan club. Personally speaking, I'm not ready to start placing my own gear just yet, but that doesnt stop me from wanting to clean every route I possibly can. Oh, and I can be identified by my ever-so-mature mantra ... "but, but .. I wanna play"

see ya's there!

I am a new member to RC.com Glad I joined!!

Soon I will be saying "Welcome to Utah" to a whole bunch of you. I can help you guys with local end of things. I live in West Jordan.

I will take any trad newbies under my wing. I am a solid gear man, but not a very strong climber.... so fret not, I like the 5.7/5.8(s)

As for Utah Liquor law, buy your stuff here (and pay the piper) and you won't have any problems. The keg is something you don't want to be caught with in Utah (ie. potential jail time).... but that is entirely your decision.

Definitely keep this rock rolling... this is a great idea.

Gabe

okay Ratstar, for those of us who are too lazy to read this whole 14 page thread, can we get an abridged version of all of this please?

Places - climbing and camping
Dates
Costs

SOUTHWEST AIRLINES...will not allow me to bring fresh seafood out to Utah, BOO HOO!! So the clam bake is off. I'm so sorry, had I known...I would have bought American tickets, but I already purchased...assuming I could. Now if I go shoot a deer or a grouse...I can transport that...GO FIGURE????

K9, the keg was a joke. I'm too lazy and poor to do something like that. A bunch of drunk climbers and belayers would not be good.

SWEEEET! Can't wait to see all you fools there!
