I cant help it daisuke lol. I was getting bashed pretty bad about how music ruins climbing. I had to state my point. I admit, i got carried away. Sowweey I find that if you take a walkmen with the ear pieces and only place one ear piece you can still listen to the music and belayer at the same time.

Crankin' tunes on the way to the tor in the trusty Nissan is enough to get me hot and feel nice- if not, some headphones on the walk in would be cool, and also suffice

Personally for me, I enjoy the serenity of the outdoors and mentally I prefer only the sounds of nature to keep me focused on the crux. Rock on

I wouldn't want to listen to music while I was outside climbing. I love music, but not in that environment and situation.

Personally, music is not for me usually (and the stuff they usually play at the gym drives me effn crazy!). I don't really need much beyond the motivation of being outside (out of the gym) or of going for a send to get me fired up; sometimes I enjoy and appreciate the cheering and encouragement of friends, but other times it's more of a distraction. On the drive to the crag though, music choice is key, but the stuff that works for me isn't necessarily hard and fast, fire you up stuff, it's more about the particular songs and the rythym, or the words in the song.

I 100% agree that music on the way to the crag is the way to go. As if I'm not pumped up enough already, then I get some of my music playing loud on the way, and the folks stare at me as I drive by with pigtails and my head bobbin and singing to my boyfriend and doggie. It's a funny site I'm sure. Miagi - by all means bring music to the crags if no one else is there! If a tree falls and no one is there to hear it, did it really make a sound??? If miagi brings music to the crag and no one is there to hear it, is it a problem???? Nooooo! I can't/won't bring music to Carderock or G. Falls here since there's always folks there. But sometimes I wish I had music to drown out their stupid comments while I'm on the wall.....

Blaring music is viewed upon as "anti-access" by land managers and most climbers' advocacey groups. We need to maintain a low profile in areas with sensitive access issues, ghetto blasters don't help our cause. Motivate yourself with a walkman instead. rrrADAM

The reason is that climbing outside is to enjoy nature and not mess it up by playing loud music!!! Trob
