OK, here's the scoop on Denver for our RC.com gathering. Same search criteria as I posted above for SLC. Flying to Denver from: NYC -- 225 Boston -- 300 Pittsburgh -- 290 Chicago -- 245 St. Louis -- 300 Atlanta -- 250 Houston -- 285 Salt Lake City -- 280 Los Angeles -- 360 San Francisco -- 380 Seattle -- 335 Minneapolis -- 275 Car/SUV rental -- $47.27/day with unlimited miles (Chevy Blazer, thru Alamo Rental.) I know there is plentiful camping available in/around climbing areas in Colorado, so I didn't search for hotels, but I can if you want the info. I MIGHT (stress MIGHT) be able to get a group discount on any hotel rooms if there are enough people interested. Ditto for car rentals. If anyone is willing to try to get corporate sponsors, feel free. So.....who's in, where we going, and when are we going? I'm serious about going, if y'all are. Best, JRB

I am serious about it. I know alot of great camping spots for free. and some are right next to walls too. I live only about an hour away from LCC and if you wanted you might be able to stay at my house. First come first serve.

Somebody on this site has to have some good corporate ties right? How cool would it be to have Rock & Ice cover the event? It would be huge!! rc.com would get great exposure, all the members could meet, climb and party!!!!! I really think we should try to get this rolling and kudos to the guy who has taken time to find out about air fare and stuff. I think we need to put together a panel of some sort so we can get ideas from a few different regions and then have those people work together to put the event on. I would love to work with a couple of you members out there to try to organize this. Any takers??? woodsE

I think it is a great idea. A great place to do this would be Vegas. Think about it. Red Rocks. Air fare is cheap. It also offers other entertainment for non-climbing family. There are always great travel packages there, its a just a very easy place to get to cheaply.

Red Rocks is a very good suggestion. I'll do the cost search later, and then we can get a final vote on the three options: Salt Lake City, Denver, or Las Vegas. We need to also consider what dates/general time of year (April? May? June?) Any members of the site that live in those areas willing to offer support? Not you, ratstar....you've already given tons of support! Best, JRB

Although I feel that we must all admit that at first the polite formalities would be in the least bit awkward. Meating someone you have spoken with over the phone, or over the internet, for quite a long periode of time can always be awkward at first, especially when you have never met. This to me would be the first situations of the meeting of the rockclimbing.com members. Notice I say first situations. As I have depicted the first rockclimbing.com reunion as a sort of awkward meeting situation, although, only for the first short while. The certain members, who already know eachother, I have imagined, would start the convorsation, for the other, unfamiliarized members. I must admit that it would be quite an interesting ordeal, meeting some of you for the first time, and if such an event shall ever take place ( ) I would be happy to go. Beerandblood, Rrradam; was it awkward meeting for the first time?

Las Vegas fares, with the usual criteria and disclaimer: New York, NY -- 250 Boston -- 250 Pittsburgh -- 300 Chicago -- 210 St. Louis -- 320 Atlanta -- 335 Houston -- 260 Denver -- 350 Los Angeles -- 100 San Francisco -- 175 Seattle -- 200 Minneapolis -- 220 Car rental: $35.84/day thru Thrifty. Hotel: Plenty of them, and all rather cheap. Camping also available at Red Rocks. So....final votes, y'all? Salt Lake, Vegas, or Denver? Also start thinking of WHEN to have this event. While we can never possibly please everyone, we'll try to get a date that works for as many as possible. Best, JRB

This sounds really cool, but I'm hoping you will consider either doing the regoonal thing or doing it in the early fall. Air fare doesnt bother me I work for an airline and I fly for $10 each way, but I'm already going to meet some rc.com members in josh Jan 9 and im tring to arrange another trip to Devils tower in May and I dont think I can put my wife out by doing another big trip in the spring. But what if we do a regional meeting in the spring and then the whole crew in the fall, one advantage is it would give people more time to plan and also more people would already know each other from the regional meetings. Just a suggestion, if you do it I'd sure like to be there, you never know I could probly talk my wife into coming with me.
