In reply to: where you guys headed? i may be in....i'll let you know. Berthoud Saturday. Yes it's Official I am in. I was up at the Loveland Ski area yesterday for Dealer Demo days. They got absolutely pounded there. The ski area looked like January not November 15th. My guess is they could have around 80-90% of the mountain open right now if they wanted.

Ok looking at the snow totals for the week close to 30" has fallen at WP. Another 20 will probably come down by the end of the weekend. Conditions are going to suck, and I guess I am the only one who is going to hit it up tomorrow.

In reply to: killclimbz - from where do you get your snow reports? inquiring minds wish to know. Well on the wintperpark website they have posted 26.5" for seven days. Snowforecast (which tends to be very accurate) is expected up to 8" a day through the weekend. You can also check out the snotel sites, and crunch some numbers to confirm how much snow has fallen. Monarch Pass is getting some good snow and is catching up btw...

i'm headed up to monarch tomorrow am. i'll be taking the tele fatties and the new (light!) AT setup so i can pick and choose. it's likely the trees will be the only thing viable, since the avy danger is ridiculous, but the tight trees are super-fun anyway. look for the black ford contour around 0800.

well, i can confirm that monarch is SICK. i skied the resort today because the 24 hr total was 16" and the caic website has red for the good bc stuff around the pass. tomorrow i'll probably ski the bc a bit because it will be super-cold and not fun at the resort.

the monarch backcountry is even sicker than the resort. there was at least 2 feet of powder--it was essentially bottomless. i stayed in the trees because it was _very_ windy and just barely above zero degrees F, and also because i was alone since none of you slackers will ever ski with me. the slopes i was on (NE) were stable, but the trees were thick. i saw evidence of natural releases with 1-2 foot crowns on several aspects. as a side note, this was my first day on fixed-heel gear. i bought a super-light randonee setup this season. it was incredible how much easier both the uphill and downhill were--i'd say at most 60% of the effort of telemarking. i am tempted to sell the tele gear, but i'm still addicted to the turn....

Very kewl Evan. A Monarch Pass trip is in the works. It might have to be the weekend after this one, but no later than that. I am itching to do a tour there.

^^^^^^ Yeah let's go there! 8^) I am down. I reglued my skins last night. That glue iron Patroller Supply gave me freak'in works. Probably took me less than an hour to scrape all the glue off and apply the new stuff. Easy, easy, easy.
