Love - does this mean that you'll never hit the Jane with me and the crew. :( We would love to hang with you one of these days. :righton: If ya guys are still skiing in May, we should be able to get some turns there.

I'm a greenhorn in Silverthorne. My schedule varies from day to day, but looking for someone local to ski with. I live 1/2 mile from Buffalo Cabin and Lilly Lake trail heads. Drop me a line if you're free or e-mail.

Took my level 1 avi class with Colorado Mountain School this weekend. I went out with the skiers because I wanted to be cool in my leather-boot setup, and ended up hiking back to the car while everyone else enjoyed knee deep powder. So, score! Found some plastic AT boots at a local shop for 25 bucks. They look like hell, but still function well, and they fit my ski-length foot. Anyone looking to take an avi class- I highly recommend CMS. 2nd time out with them, and very still very happy. Very competent guys up there that really know their turf. Happy skiing.

Mmmm Utah. Very fun stuff out there. I tainted myself and rode a couple of days at the resort, but made up for it by getting waaaay out of bounds. One run out of Snobasin dumped me out 15 miles away in Ogden Canyon. Something close to 5K vert on that one and the best and deepest pow of the trip. Even the earn your turns stuff was huge. Climbed 4k before doing one run, which yields almost 3k of vert. Hike another 1,500-2K and drop it again to the car for a close to 6K day. Really, really good stuf. I have a few pics will try to get them up later.

Sounds like you had some pretty good drops.

It was Ben Lomond Peak area. World class bc for sure. I now have a pretty good lay of the land there and it's amazing. Huge 1k vertical chutes off the peak, but alas avy danger made me stay away from those. Berthoud Saturday Vince? We are getting nuked. I am meeting a few splitters up there in the am.

I love Monarch. I was hoping to get down there this weekend but alas, I need to stay closer to Denver. So I am hitting Berthoud yet again. Then again, the weather pattern is looking very favorible for chuting. Could we see a No Name, Russell, Frakenstein, Chimney Chute day Saturday? Methinks the answer is probably yes :!:

Chuting Saturday it is! Y coulior looks nice. I wouldn't mind going after that one. I haven't looked into the approach and all but I had thought it was just a very early AM start to bag that one. Dead Dog is looking like it's going to be a go this year too btw...

Woman and I looking to do some lower angle stuff on Saturday. We're planning on going to Hidden Vally at RMNP, but I was wondering if anyone had some good suggestions for stuff closer to Silverthorne/Frisco area.

You might try Herman Gulch. Also Geneva Basin off of Guanella pass is pretty tame. Especially if you stick to the runs on the South side of the old ski area. Skin or hike up the old cat and traverse across until you get to the old Ski patrol shack which is now a hut. There is an old map of the ski area on the wall. You can see what runs were what from there. Hoosier pass looks to have some low angle stuff too.

Ditto what killclimbz said, but I highly recommend the Montezuma area. A short drive for you and lots of good terrain to choose from. Check out the Webster Pass tour, a nice gradual climb and steeper turns on the north side if you wish to get some turns in. http://www.stenulson.net/showcase/recreatn.htm

Monarch this weekend perhaps? Chuting on Berthoud? Will, you want to hit up the Diamond Peaks maybe. The only problem is that it looks like this weekend is going to be as cold or colder than last. I am looking for some new facial wear today...

Looks like I can do a tour at Monarch on Sat. Being the busiest ski weekend of the year, I am not going to drive the I-70 corridor. Let me know.

I was holding off a little on confirming. Was waiting to see what this storm did. Looks like it's favoring Monarch with over 8" in the past 24 vs 3 at Winterpark. I am so down with Monarch. I think Dave and Jim from Splitboard are going to join in. Should be really good there.

I'm just happy that my boots were shipped back from Black Diamond and my right cheek is no longer purple/red from the frostbite.

Well the temps are the only stitch in that "fantastic" thing. Still, the only super exposed bit is to Peck's. I think I can deal. Plus it's more south than Berthoud and we all know it's warmer in the south... :?
