hey, has any one got some of their gear from the northern mountain supply web site. there stuff is really cheap but it is indicated in the small print that it may have "cosmetic blemishes", also they seem to have very little stock of anything. overall i just got a feeling that it was kind of a shady deal, just wondering if any one had any problems with ordering from that site Gear quality Ect.

I've ordered from Northern Mountain Supply before, shipping was a bit slower than other places, but still reasonable. I've never had any issue with quality. Cosmetically flawed gear is sold by many distributors, so long as you are aware that it may have scratches or discoloration go ahead and buy it, its just at strong . Just know the brands you trust and if its cheaper 'cuz its scratched well, then its cheaper....

i bought some flawed stuff from then and never really saw what the cosmetic blemishes were, especially not after the first day using the gear. i'd buy from them again, they have some really good deals sometimes.

No problems with orders from NMS. As was said, shipping was slow, but it's free for orders over $50.

Cosmetic blemishes or "blems" are just that, small imperfections which have no bearing on the piece's structural integrity. No retailer could sell anything that was not 100% safe.

Yeah shipping can be a bit slow but it will get to you. If you need your stuff soon you can pay the 4.99 for 3 day shipping thats quite zippy. As a mountain club member you can get 10% off a lot of the gear thats already at really great prices. Overall a great place to buy gear.

i got #3 brig bro from them a while back. no blemishes noticed. would it matter anyway (as long as they are purely cosmetic)? it is not so pretty anymore.

NMS has been fine for me. good pricing on some things, 10% off regularly priced items if you sign up to be a member (which is really easy) they have bulk pricing on some things (BD ovalwires are 5 each for 10 or more as a member) and they have cheap webbing which is very good since I slackline. shipping is slow, but free now, it was 2 bucks for a while.

I have ordered from them a few times and always been satified with what I have recieved. As has been said, Shipping is a little slow, but hell its free and for large orders the saved shipping costs cant be beat. Not all the gear they sell contain cosmetic blemishes (the killer deals section usually will, but the stuff I have ordered from the other sections was all first rate). Also as has been said their Instant Patronage Refund is great (comparable to REI's only quicker), costs nothing and is easy to get just by signing up to be on there emailing list. In my experience a great online store.

A few years ago I ordered a couple closeout cams from them. I heard a few things about them I didn't like the next day. They canceled my order no problem. Nice guys.

Last summer, I recognized the store while driving though Eureka, CA. Stopped in, had a great time, found out about some local climbing spots and even left with a headlamp I didn't really need.

The dirty rotten cheats sold me headlamp I still haven't used. It was a great price, though.

Everything I ordered from the in the past arrived no problems. Cosmetic blems are usually pretty trival. They are usually small marks, incorrect coloring, or non performance affecting defects.
