We'll be meeting for the first time at Rumney at 4:30pm on Friday, in the main parking lot. See you there!

We've been discussing a gathering at Rumney this fall, and October is looking like the way to go. It's usually not too cold down here until November, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Foliage peaks around Colombus Day weekend. For anyone who hasn't been in NH for this, it is INCREDIBLE. People come from all over the place just to look at our leaves, if you can believe that. It'd almost be worth it for this alone.

So, I'm looking at the 11th-14th of October for this, the 14th being a Monday and Colombus Day. If this won't work, we can change the dates, but I can tell you right now that if we don't reserve campsites soon we won't get any.

Post here if you would be able to make it or might be able to make it. I'll keep a list updated on this post of who's up for it.

I know you all want to come here... let's make this awesome!

I'd like to get there, but I'm stuck as a definite maybe until sometime at the end of Sept or early Oct. We don't have Columbus day in Canada so I'm not sure if I'll be free then

I am a definite for at least a day, in which case I wouldn't need a campsite, but I hope to make it for the entire time and camp with everyone.

Jules,
Will give it a try. Sra Diego and myself were talking about going up to New England this fall anyway for a weekend so this is a good excuse. Plus I have been hearing a lot of talk about how great the "upper east coast" climbers are and want to see this for myself. He He Will let you know for sure when I can.

I might be able to make that weekend. I've got a wedding the following one and I might be busy since I'm the best man. My father in-law is also running the Chicago marathon on the 13th and I might have to go and watch. I won't know for sure till later this summer. I know this for sure, I want to make it, so I'll do my best to.

Just got the OK from the other half. As long as we don't get sent to war between now and then we'll be there.

Ok, dumb question. Where is Rumney? Go ahead and laugh that I said yes before knowing where I am going, but I guess that is how bad I want to climb. He He!

Mitch,
As things get closer, keep in touch and maybe we can work out a deal. I will probably be coming up through eastern PA and would be more than happy to offer a lift.

Hey Juliana,
What campground were you thinking of going to? Just curious. Are you pretty local in Rumney? Just wondering if I know you. I might be up this weekend, maybe I'll run into you.

Honestly... I've never been. I have, however, spent a great deal of time in the area.

I've been looking a quite a few campgrounds in the Lakes Region (Rumney, Plymouth, Ashland, Holderness, Tilton, and the like). I have a place to stay, but the family feels a bit uncomfortable having people they haven't meet stay with us...

Regardless, I will search for accomodations for you guys, find out what's open then (as some campgrounds are closed in October) and post info on what I find.

Hey Juliana,
There is a pretty big campground close to the crag. If you stay strait on the entrence road (instead of turning right by the church) when leaving, the is a campground on the right hand side about 2 miles down the road. You can't see it from the road, but they have a big sign on the corner to follow. They have clean HOT showers, and sites right on the river. It's a good place, but don't show up late at night, they frown on that. I hope this helps.

Erm.. if thats the one I'm thinking of they wanted $7 each just to shower there. We camped for free but had showers at Sandy Shores campsite on the way to Plymouth. At least I think that was the name. The free thing probably wouldn't work with a bunch of people though.
Hey Jules: your folks are right about strangers though, your mum can vouch for what a bunch of freaks we are and she didn't even see us in Utah.

Hey Darkside,
Na, different campsite. The one I speak of is like $10-15 per person and is kinda hidden away. It's on the same road that has the big boulder sticking out. Sound familiar? I wish I remembered the name.

http://www.ucampnh.com/bakerriver/

I think that might be the campground you guys wre talking about. Funny, I came here to tell everyone about it and there you were already talking about it! I was at Rumney today and ran into two guys who had camped there: said it was $9/person per night, with shower included. They said it was huge, but you can reserve sites as well. It's right nearby, which would be nice.
