Lisa, Yes this is some place new. Let's just say that if Friday is successful I'll be wearing a lot of "BROWN" very soon - probably within three months or so. All good vibes, prayers etc very much appreciated! ;) If not, then I'll be saying - It was a good experience. ;) Have a great time in Tejas! JD

In reply to: Good luck James! KT Mother Sheep, Nextasent and Crazyfingers - thanks for your well wishes. I'm going in to interview tomorrow morning with a simulator ride tomorrow afternoon. This is my super bowl! :) There is nothing quite like being called into interview with your number one choice of airlines. I'll give you an update soon. Thanks again for you well wishes. Back to the grind of studying and preparing for my interview. See ya! JD

UPS TRIP REPORT :) Interview went fairly well. I had one section that I thought I could have expanded on a little more but otherwise - very good. Simulator ride went very good and now I'm in the wait and see mode. This could go either way - just depends. That area that I could have expanded on would have proven I knew more information about the company than I eluded to in the interview. So the area I didn't expand on was a pretty significant area...not that I didn't know the information but got sidetracked a bit with another part of their question and never came back to it _ DOWP!!!!!!!!!!! I should know within 2-4 weeks whether I'm in the pool or re-applying in six months. ;) The good news is that they upped the ante on how many pilots they need this year. Originally, it was 64...then 100. Now that total is about 300-350. (BIG TOOTHY GRIN) Odds went up while I was there. The competition for this job is pretty tough though, for instance, they have 14,000 applications, 8,000 are competitive and 2,000 pilots were recommended. I had three recommendations. I was the only one there with pure civilian time. The other four guys, two were furloughed United and the other two were presently working for United. All of these guys had military fighter time. All of these guys chose another airline first(hopefully my saving grace). If this works out - it is likely that I'd be hired into the First Officer's seat flying MD-11's to Anchorage and then to Hong Kong and back. LONG FLIGHTS! :) By the way, Thanks everyone for your well wishes and for your support. For some reason my "messages" folder won't open - http:404 error with link not found. Hopefully I'll get that taken care of shortly. If you have a message in there for me - please email me with it so that I can read it otherwise, it may be lost. Gotta bail - off to Phoenix, Tucson, Phoenix, Spokane. Fun day - should be a pretty view of the Cascades tomorrow morning as we come out at sunrise. Buh-Bye JD

Well, as of yesterday, I'm about 80% sure that ice season is over for me. I've been climbing on my broken finger and torn tendon of 1 month now with no problems. Sounds dumb bit its my pinky. . . I don't need it!!! I took a little fall on it last week that really messed it up. I tried to climb ice yesterday. I was on a route that shouldn't have given me any trouble but I couldn't complete it. In fact, I couldn't even get 20' up the route. The vibrations from my tool hitting the ice was very painful. I have to admit, I'm really, really sad right now. When I don't have my sons, I really don't know what else to do with myself if I can't climb. I may be looking at doing some mountaineering if anyone is interested, maybe this Sunday. I don't really care to do Quandary or Bierstadt since I've done both of those in the winter. I'd like something a little more challenging. Any info would be appreciated.

Here's to happy healing, and if you want to hit some mountaineering during the week, just let me know. My newly unemployed status gives me LOTS of free time.

Is anyone here going to be at the Tour De Front competition at RJ1 the weekend after next. My daughter is all hot to compete, but I wanted to get a sense of how intense it is before I feed her to the lions? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Anything would be nice. It should be pretty easy to avoid irritating your pinky. Marketa and I will probably hike somewhere on this Sunday. Weather permitting, probably sport climbing on Saturday if anyone wants to join me and my friend Frank. He's Slovakian, incidentally, but is learning English pretty quickly. Fun guy. Also, I am starting a new job today that is temp to perm at a large company in Denver. I'll be working in the same area that I used to. I was at the HUD foreclosure property manager for Colorado for a little over a month doing some light office work. So with the new job, I'll be able to buy Marketa a kick ass birthday gift... in addition to the black kitten we picked last weekend. Heh. -Tim

Good morning! Mother_Sheep and Crazyfingers - hope you're respective pinky's become useful soon! I'm sure that is really painful and you probably bump it or should I say, you're more cognizant of how much you bump it. Regardless, get better soon! Skibs - thanks for the well-wishes. As far as HK travel goes - if employed, I wouldn't even get a discount but I'll do what I can for you in the next collective bargaining agreement. ;) How is the new pad? Nextascent - Lis, give me a buzz when you are in town - we'll find a way to crank on plastic! What is the deal with all you one arm capable people? I guess now is a great time for me to push my grades so that I can catch up to you all! Colorado Steve - give me a call whenever you want to go Steve. Tim - congrats on the new job. Kim/Jeremy - enjoy the Tanks. See ya, JD
