i have been wanting to make my own moonshine for the hell of it does anyone have any secrets...tips...recipies...stories...let me know!

tip: a web forum probably isn't the best place to announce you yen to engage in illegal activity.
as for recipies, there are scads of books on the subject, but a better suggestion is to stay away from distilling opperations due to the fact that making 'shine si dangerous and a giant pain in the a$$. I've found a good peach brandy recipe in a book called foods of the frontier, and is way easier than moonshinin'

Grab a copy of the book: Kentucky Moonshine. It tells you exactly how to make it and kill yourself in the process. Replace the plastic surgical tubing with copper tubing and you should be good to go.

I thought its only illegal if you produce over a certain amount. I know thats true in regards to beer and wine so I figure distilling is the same?

That shit can make you go blind and I've seen it make my buddy spew foam out of his mouth, eyes rolled back in his head and unconscious before he hit the floor after drinking it straight out of a mason jar.
That being said, it's really fun to spring on people. :lol:

ONe of my college roommates was from the south, and he had it from time to time, in Mason jars. You had to take a shot or two if it was your birthday, or some other special occasion.
it even had a label. 'Shine on Georgia Moon'
:lol:
It burned. Bad.

They make this stuff called "Georgia 'Shine" that you can get in these parts that comes in a mason-like jar. On the label "Gaurenteed less than 90 days old" A college roommate and I bought a jar one time. Only drank about 1/2 of it over a month or three. He came in one afternoon after a horrible week of tests and papers, takes the lid off the jar and turns it up and finishes off the rest like it was water. Totally trashed in about 20 min and for the rest of the night. I'm suprised that he didn't kill himself doing that.
