How do you estimate stretch

Can't Post

I was just reading coldclimbs last post. Is there any rule of thumb for how much stretch to expect when tensioning a line. I guess this would change depending on the line, single or threaded?
I seem to get about 6 feet of stretch on my 40' threaded line, about 15%, but when I rig a 100 foot line I seem to get more than 15% and run out of tensioning space.
Any opinions for how much room to leave for single, threaded, and double line would be helpful.
