The Boardman Tasker Award is given for excellence in mountaineering literature. It is named after Pete Boardman and Joe Tasker, both distinguished authors in their own right, who disappeared whilst attempting the first ascent of the North East Ridge of Everest in 1982. The prize is given annually. Books are short-listed in September and three judges announce the winner and award the prize at the Alpine Club in London during October of each year. The 2001 Boardman Tasker Award Shortlist has been announced as follows: The Middle-Aged Mountaineer, Jim Curran. Pyrenean High Route, John Harding. Hazard’s Way, Roger Hubank. Touching My Father’s Soul, Jamling Tenzing Norgay. Snow in the Kingdom, Ed Webster. The winner will be announced on Friday 9 November.
