Ok guys I was born and raised in Juneau, Ak and will hopefully be back for next summer. I want to do a bouldering/climbing video over those 3 months. So my question is what do climbers want to see in an alaskan climbing vid.

Bouldering
Lead falls
ALpine lines
Gym climbs
etc..

I am hoping to start my vid with some cool duck hunting footage to a beastie boys track just for fun and then go into some credits and bouldering falls to rancid.

This video will all be shot in Juneau mainly and will feature lots of first asents and cool prob names like Hungover Overhang.

Input or any ak climbers wanting to participate and have a good time let me know.

PEace Im outta here

i was unaware there were enough good bouldering sections in juneau to make a video of it :0

A mix of alpine/ice/rock would be cool.

the definatley have to shoot up to the Mendenhall for some ice playing, preferably Suicide Icefall, some great bouldering in the bowl on nice dry days.

I'll be leaving in May for the summer and wont be back to Juneau until October, bummer, would have been fun to join in the festivities :(

Although I am in Anchorage..I would suggest no gym footage and no falls, I mean what do you gain out of that? I guess it captures the audience.

So yeah to scrambles, alpines, sport and trad...the local outdoor rock ice community...

Would you be comming to South Central?

My two cents...best of luck man!

I would leave out the gym footage. You should try to get up to Hatcher's and do some filming there good bouldering and trad climbing.

there's some climbing in Juneau if you're willing to hike, it's just the weather that's lame... Did a climbing trip this weekend and got rained on the whole time.

There is a big a** boulder out the road @ about mile 18. Right next to the road you can't miss it. @25' big as a house. They are widening the road though and it looks like it might be in the path of destruction... "Hey jimbo lookit that big ol' rock over there.... let's blow it up!"

Yeah thats the Tee Harbor boulder. It has some decent problems on there and can be fun. However someone bolted some rocks to the backside of the boulder and left some bolts sticking out it would probably be pretty nasty if someone were to fall and hit one of these bolts. The natural feature problems are alot of fun. If your in the area you should go climb on it before it gets destroyed. Supposedly there are more boulders further up hill ive been meaning to check out.

looked up the hill from the tea harbor boulder, didn't see anything big enough to climb on. And from what I heard, the boulder isn't going to get blown up anymore. Seems like they couldn't find a good way to destroy it and not send a bunch of the loose rock up the hill to come sliding down... Personally, I like having the roch there, it's fun to play on!

hosh.

So my question is what do climbers want to see in an alaskan climbing vid.

Show us what we can get in Alaska that we can't get anywhere else. Highlight the unique northern climbing experience and make us want to come there.

That, and polar bear wrestling.

Well they blew the shit out of that boulder. Chalk one up for development. But at least it looks like there may be a few new roadcut routes out of the deal yeah
