If you've been to the pump or are going this year, please chime in with your thoughts!
I've gone 5 times and had a blast everytime climbing and hanging out with lots of other climbers. It has more of a festival feel than a comp feel and climbers of all levels have a good time. Lets get together and add an RC.com contingent to the group.
The "Pump" is at Ross Park in Pocatello, ID-about 2.5-3 hours from Salt Lake City and about 45 minutes from sport climbing at Massacre Rocks State Park and 1.5-2 hours from the City of Rocks.
The Pump is a two-day event:
1st Day: Lead categories have 1.5 hours to top rope as many routes as they can on the Sunny side wall. There are about 60 top ropes hanging on routes ranging from 5.6-5.12 each worth a certain amount of points.
2nd day: Lead categories have 4 hours in the morning to redpoint 9 of the climbs of their choice that they toproped the day before.
In the afternoon: non-lead categories have an hour to climb as many routes as they can on the Shady side wall. There are about 60 top ropes there too ranging from 5.6-5.12.
Then in the evening beer is drunk, limited edition mugs are awarded to the winners in each category, then lots of "booty" is raffled off to the participants.

ILL BE THERE!!....well hell it wouldnt even hurt to be in it? i just got into climbing and i think it might be a fun thing to go do this summer...see if i am any good.... the rc.com thing sounds like a good idea

is that all the poeple from rc.com planning to go to the pump this year?.....i really hope more people then that would show up. from everything i've heard it's alot of fun..and hell just for competing you get free shit(yay!).
