Recommendations for honeymoon?

I'm getting hitched around Memorial day and looking for a place with sandy beaches, isolation, and rocks. The only catch is I'm on a budget and I only have week (so Thailand is out). Any suggesttions would be appreciated, thanks.

If Thailand is out, Cayman Brac might be good. Isolated beaches if not necessarily sandy. Lots of sport climbing. There's Scuba diving too. IMO not a great place for snokeling though.

Your trolling skills need some serious work my friend....

For the OP...I'm heading to the Banff area for my honeymoon in July...not really ocean beaches, but there is a lake...Maybe somewhere in California??

The beach/rock thing doesn't seem to happen too often in the US...

Word to rockhomie. I dont know what trolling is. But anyway, I would suggest some place like Nigeria for your honeymoons. They have some pretty nice beaches I hear.

Virgin Gorda!!!!! Some of the best granite boulders you have ever seen sitting on the most pristine white sand beaches with warm blue water and lots of little fishys. The bouldering is awsome, unexplored, and endless. There is one online guide at Noah Kauffman's website (google it)...oh and its close to home in the sunny caribe.

May very well be a great place, but Maine in May...the water is going to be freezing. You will not be able to swim very much.

not a single decent response yet :-(.
i went to kauai (sp?) island in the hawaiian islands. it's exactly as you described, isolated beaches, clean, and some great hiking. if you want a challange while you're there hike to the blue hole, the center of an extinct volcano with a waterfall and clear blue pond at the bottom.

One word.... Majorca, in Spain. Its beautiful, warm, stylish and has diverse features accross the island. From partying to seclusion im sure you can find your corner, in addition it has thousands of excellent sport routes right off the sea. Although i dont know if travelling abroad is all that great considering the exchange rate of the dollar. Also have a look at Morocco, i plan on going there to climb in may. From what i understand it has the beach, the culture and some decent mountains..
Congrats! good luck with your new family!

I'm with SED...My wife and I went to Kaui, awesome beaches, great hikes all over the place, great place for the romance and the outdoors. Check out hotwire for great deals on hotels, the Sheraton has the best/safest beach,.......I know your looking for climbing, but there is plenty of outdoors on Kaui, and you can always climb another trip. Word of advice take a good shell and boots, the trails are a challenge due to the rain in the mountains.

Best wishes on your marriage day.

I was going to suggest this as well. And it might not be TO crowded that early in the season.

um...

I dissagree...

If I had my drathers...it's for BOTH!

I would say, budget wise, Malibu California.
Laguna/Carona Del Mar for bouldering and cruising a nice little artsy town.

heck, make it both...Malibu
and CDM..

I agree with the others, living in new england - May in Maine isn't going to be good 'beach' weather. Beach weather hits maine for about a week in August. But it is gorgeous - if you like rocky coastlines and don't care that you won't necessarily be swimming at said beaches, Acadia is beautiful. Otherwise I'd go with Hawaii if you can swing it.
