In reply to: I've noticed those as well, and they've been there since last year. I'm not AWARE of any access issues, so like a good climbing bum I ignore the signs and just try to be kind of discreet. Several of the locals have seen us walking in and out of the location and never said anything. I spoke to a cop friend of mine who suggested that the worst possible outcome of this was getting a small fine, and in all probability we'd just be asked to leave. There have been SOME no tresspassing signs for a long time, and climbers have still been tolerated/allowed. You know as much as I do. Good to know. I couldn't recall if the signs were there during my last visit. I'll just park a bit further out and mind my manners. Your cop friend is probably right regarding the legal ramifications. In my mind, damaging relations with the landowner and preventing any future hopes of climbing in an area would suck worse than a ticket.

Some people routinely leave trash all over breakneck (beer cans and the like) and I make an effort to haul some of it out when I'm there. I suspect (hope?) that the garbage is from local kids drinking or the like, and not climbers, but I don't know if the landowner will make the distinction.

I'd love to go to the mill, unfortunately I've put off the yard work as long as I can stand it. Charley, did you make it down to Cooper's for the open house?

yea, myself and 3 others drove down. It was a beautiful day. We did some bouldering and top roping. We also practiced some trad placements. I didn't climb very well at all, but the day was a success on the whole.

I would love to tag along, but my research funding is being threatened. Looks like I won't see any more weekends until my internship in Boston starts. :(

Hey Nate, what brings you out this way? My first though is the mill is not worth traveling to. There is a campground nearby. I can't think of the name at the moment. If you stop at the park office and get a park map. Go from the office up by the playground area, turn right then left. Head towards the breakneck bridge area and you go right past a campgrounds. What would you be coming to the mill for. I hope more than the climbing. It is only half hour away from me, so I am there alot. Coopers is much nicer but over 2 hrs, from me so hard to make after work.

I have some friends in New Castle that I haven't seen in years, and my brother in-law wants to go climbing and camping. So in order to kill 2 birds with one stone... Charley, maybe we could meet up there?

Hey Bill, Hey Nate it's long time. I made the mistake of reading forums and now I'm really diying to climb! Unfortinately as Bill knows I'm in Pakistan until July. Keep on climbing and making me jealous cause I'll still be reading about everyones plans and TRs. The closest rock is about 1000 miles from the hot hell hot where I'm living. See ya all in July and be safe.

Nate, Would that make me the third stone? Dave, I spent the weekendat seneca. Wew were both so sore and tired our climbing sucked, but we still had a good weekend. For anyone who would like to know, the teepees in princess snowbird rent for $25/ nite. You can sleep 4 which makes it about the same as a tent site. Electric heater, ceiling fan, and insulation. That might even be worth it in the summer.

Good point. I have about 2 weeks left before I leave Pittsburgh for the Summer. I am looking for some others to join me when I go out. Starting Wednesday, May 6th, I would love to go out. Post up here if you want to join me. I am VERY open to suggestions, but my current plans are: probably May 7th - the mill for one night Saturday-Monday May 9-11 - the New I would love to have someone join myself and 2 friends at the New. We need atleast a 4th to keep the pairs even. Also, this will be our first time at the New. So, it would be nice to have someone help a bit with the basics of where to go. I understand Roger's ??? is the place to stay? any recommendations otherwise? I heard there are more easier routes at Summersville. maybe we will head over there after we get spanked at the New. Hopefully we will be able to find something. Once again, if you can join us and prefer something else, I would be willing to change plans. ****self advertisement**** I want to learn trad. So, I would love to head out to Seneca and follow someone. So, is anyone able to join us? Is anyone doing any climbing?

Anyone going to coopers this weekend? I should be there both days. Some jerk was smashing rock at the mill. The h&r route where the flake was broken last year had a hole down very low smashed. It shouldn't affect the climb except to make a better hol for someone short. Someone also broke the corner of a hold that I use to get on the traverse on the left side of island block, making it a bit harder. These where smashed with another rock. Didn't see who did it.
