Me and my friend have always had an intrest in rock climbing. We are in very good shape and are going to start in two weeks. I was wondering if anyone that has gone to the Pecos river know any really good spots and what equipment would be needed. I will be scouting spots for the next two weeks around the lake mostly and I will post photos of what spots look good.

Thanks,
Joe (socxs)

Since you live near the Pecos River, you can visit the Continental Ranch. Good places to start climbing are Candy Land and maybe later Painted Wall. Candy Land is short and I believe you can set up topropes on routes safely. It's a remote area, however, so be careful. As for bouldering, you can probably find something closer to home for that.

Did you ever find anything? I'm just looking for some bouldering within 30 miles of Del Rio--along the Pecos, the lake, or the Rio Grande...doesn't have to be anything special, just something.
