I'm saving up to build my own bouldering wall at home. Does anyone have any good resources as to how to do this? Also, the area I'm thinking of doing this in is my house's basement, whose walls are poured concrete. Anyone anchored a climbing structure to concrete before? Your thoughts are appreciated. Thanks! Andy

Andy, check these two pages, both tell you how to build a good boudering/training wall in your house www.gritbouldering.mcmail.com/climb/gritb.htm or: www.ukclimbing.com/caff/features/buildwall.html (much better!!) hope this helps . Si

There is also a great book out entitled "How to Build Your Own Climbing Wall" - it has some nice references on home walls. I believe it is published by Falcon. Hope this helps - Matt

Check the section entitled "In your basement" for more detailed instruction into your particular scenario. You should build a garden.

Don't even drill into the concrete. Use the rafters and build a 2x4 frame in the back and another to which you can attach the plywood. I did it in my basement and can give you more info if your interested. Basically I wanted to avoid having to patch concrete if and when I sell the house. PIECE

I have built a few houses with poured concrete walls, so please heed this bit of advice. DO NOT DRILL INTO THE WALL Very bad (read: expensive) things can and probably will occur. I'm not talking about having to patch concrete. I would worry more about turning a previously dry basement into an underground swimming pool. So unless cavediving is one of your favorite passtimes I would suggest you either build a free standing structure or anchor the wall to the ceiling joists. Good luck, I hope this helps.
