Hi Rockitfuse

My name is Richard, I'm a 23 year old South Arfican climber. I will be in Spain from 20 June to 14 Sept so am looking for people to climb with while there. I don't have quite as much experience as you but have been climbing for the last 2 and a bit years. Trad is what I like most but into sport and boldering aswell. Climbing 5.11c sport and have climbed 5.11a trad. After Spain I'll be going to work in L.A. so would be nice to hook up in the U.S. at later stage!

Speak to you later, would be cool if we could meet up Richard

Good to hear from you. I am in the process of finalizing dates and trying to figure out free time and commitments. I may be able to get in a day or two after my work, traveling NE Spain a bit to climb, but this is only a hope so far. Where will you be based? I am in So. Catalunya and N. Communitat Valenciana, close to the coast.
What do you know of potential areas? I've climbed at Siurana and Monserrat, and a wee bit at Montenejos (or is it Penyagalosa?). Els Ports (Los Puertos) are fairly close; gotta be a ton of other stuff as well.
Richard, keep in touch.

Hey rockit

I'm flying out of S.A. tomorrow nite...to arrive in Barcelona on Sun. Do you have any dates for your trip yet?
What gear are you taking along?
I'm taking all my aluminium gear...quick draws, trad rack and harness etc...want to try get my trad ropes in as well but already over my weight limit. I'm gonna buy a new sport rope in Spain and if I can make a plan with my trad ropes will be sorted.
Have you got an email ad I can cont you on?

Cool man, see you in Spain if all works out, rich

mrebrown: understood; you are in Spain now. I am working to flesh out exact dates and free time for my trip. I will be bringing a thinner single rope, all std. trad multi-pitch personal gear. Not sure about a trad rack (weight & space); perhaps TR runners and / or sport/ shorter trad draws/runners.
I will be in Benicarló, btwn Vinaros and Peñíscola (border of Catalunya and Comunitat Valenciana). --- where are you? --
I would be lucky to lead a 6a/b clean on gear; I would hop on most 5.9s (Yosemite/Tahquitz scale). Couldn't do a 5.10 on lead, trad. Also, my endurance is not up where I'd like. Working hard on it. Been on real rock some lately; so that's good...
-- still interested?-- Get back to me.

Hi there, posting from madrid. I don´t think I will be in that area in auguat, I can tell you though: be careful with the heat at that time of the year, it is being very hot in spain this summer and we have had 2 heat advisories already this summer. If you are climbing in El Chorro, there are problems with the access to several of the sectors, apparently you could at some point access them by walking on the train tracks but now it is forbidden and you could get fined, there are other ways to access although I don´t know them, maybe someone from Spain other than me in this forum can tell you. Otherwise go to www.desnivel.com, click on forums and ask, I am sure you will get answers from locals.

I live in madrid with my boyfriend who is from Seattle, we climb every weekend, both sport and trad, not too much bouldering though. My boyfriend is very experienced, me not as much. If anyone wants to hook up sometime, pm me.
Have fun!

I will be in southern Spain (hostelling around Barcelona) for a couple of weeks starting 15 August and then moving on to the south of France. I had not been planning on climbing until I read this post but if a group forms here I'd make the effort to come out.
I'm 18 and I climb sport and boulder up to 10d / V5.

I haven't hooked up with anyone for sure, but yeah, I'm interested, John. I have your number in Benicarlo- PM me or post a message about days you'd like to go. I don't have a phone number in spain and any number would be temporary but if you have internet access there's always e-mail.
I will be backpacking so I won't bring a lot of gear; I'll make up for using yours with a round of beer afterwards, if that suits.

Kasper - OK. Still working on days free. I've only 'draws and many small cams (big hurry pack & little room); no nuts or large trad gear. I have a rope, plus a seconding rig (alpine harness, 'biners & ATC-XP) for you. I will post as sson as know deal.
Was in Mississauga several weeks back, for 10 days or so - mostly working. Hit Fraggle (Kelso) and Rattlesnake some in eves. and Sunday. You've a great city in Toronto.

kasper & mrebrown, etc.: no stinkin' time free. Probably a bust on meet-up except for rarely-climbing friends in this town - at the quarry here, or Els Ports de Beciete. Working sucks at times, yes?
John out.
