"insulted at least a few times"??? I climb there all the time, and the staff seem nice enough to me. Yeah, they get irritated if you drop a biner or leave your ropes crossed, but shouldn't that be expected? “I'd rather climb at Exposure any day than go here. I'd avoid them unless you've just got to climb and there's nowhere else to go.” Texas Rock Gym is a much cleaner facility (the holds, and the gym itself), they change their routes constantly, and the bouldering is great. -Exposure is closed, anyway, so now there is nowhere else to go. There are also two Texas Rock Gyms, I think hes talking about the one towards Galveston. The one off of I-10 has awesome staff, really friendly.

Maybe that's why he's got the directions totally wrong... I'd advise Mr. pushtheextreme to change his review before the Houston gym sues him for libel...

libel?? Give me a break! Everyone has the right to write about crappy service or poor customer relations that they have experienced at a particular establishment. Have you never read a review of a restaurant or a movie that ripped the service or flick? Last time I checked, we don't live in communist China. pushtheextreme...Thanks for an honest opinion.

All, The information posted as to the location was previously left there by another user on the site, and as I wasn't able to confirm the location at the time I simply left it. Any driving direction have come from their membership card, so you can address you direction problems to the manager, Mr. Jack Henderson. As for the review, I can see how you would be irritated by this Mr. Henderson, as you are the gym manager. However, the review is not locked, so people are able to post their own comments there if they see fit. The review of your gym was completely truthful, and until I get a chance to climb their again, or I hear other reliable feedback my review will not change. I made a courtesy phone call to Mr. Henderson over Christmas break to make him aware of his gym's review, and he did not seem to indicate that this bothered him. Also, in the same phone call I read him the gym review, and outlined why I had review it as so. When I climbed at TRG, I was there with some other close climber friends who are quite experienced in my opinion (all climb V6, onsight 5.13's). Every climber in my group upon leaving noticed the very points that are mentioned in the review. As far as locations go, (Mr. Henderson has indicated a new gym is being build, and the current review has incorrect driving directions), anyone with this correct information may feel free to update the review, as this is free for all. Well lets look at the facts> As to routes we have well over 150 rope routes> < Bouldering problems over 40. And as of today we have over 60,000 members in our database. IT is also a shame that just because i did not give a certain person with rockclimbing .com a free party for a family member of his that we got a bad reveiw!! BOO HOO BOO HOO If he really was at our gym should he not know--- driving directions!!

Mr. Henderson, As I've said before, the review of your gym is open to anyone to edit, so feel free to add your own comments to my review. On the note of a free party: what are you talking about? If you will look at the date the review of your gym was written, it was July 2001. I called and asked if you could offer a small discount to a friend of mine because he was bringing a large party of friends to your gym a few weeks ago. That phone call took place months after the review, and at no time did I ask for anything special. I rather referred him to your gym (exposure was still open at the time), and when he told me of the cost, it sounded high, so I called just to see if that was the normal rate, or if you had given him any sort of discount which usually accompanies large parties of people. I'm truly sorry that my personal review of your gym has come to you posting things such as "boo hoo boo hoo". I can assure you that was never the intent of the review. It's my and a collective group of peoples' opinion of your gym, and you may feel free to add your own opinion to it. ~Matt

I've climbed at the TRG (both locations) and didn't like them. The holds were filthy and greasy, so I don't think that they were "changed constantly". And the shreaded tires at the base of all the climbs has pieces of wire in them from steell belted radials. The staff was very cordial and helpfull though. rrrADAM

rrradam- When was the las time you were there? I climb at the Memorial gym, and there are very few routes that I would call "greasy". In the past few months, the staff have gone apesh*t changing out the routes. pushtheextreme - You still have wrong-as-hell directions. And I don't know when your review was originally posted, but it was updated on 6-15-02... And here's a random question. Right under "updated on 2002-6-15", it says "visits: 198". Does that mean you've been there 198 times? I thought I knew everyone (I practically live there), and I've never met a Matt Taylor...

Like I said in my previous post, the directions are from another user, they are not mine. I'll go validate those right now and see what I can do. Quote: And I don't know when your review was originally posted, but it was updated on 6-15-02... Yes, that is correct. The review was originally posted July 30th, 2001, but it has been updated since then. The date you see there is the most recent update, in which I toned down the review, as it has been a while since I climbed there, and things may have changed. Quote: And here's a random question. Right under "updated on 2002-6-15", it says "visits: 198". Does that mean you've been there 198 times? I thought I knew everyone (I practically live there), and I've never met a Matt Taylor... No, that does not mean I've visited TRG 198 times. Rather, that means the review has been visited 198 times. I hope that answered your questions! Feel free to add your own comments to the review! ~M@ [ This Message was edited by: pushtheextreme on 2002-07-08 10:00 ]

Are those directions for two different gyms? or just for the clear lake/league city one? i'm confused! take a look at the league city review and tell me if this is right. I've never been to that location. Matt

Yes, that was directions for the 2 different gyms . They are 38 miles apart!! Both are Radwall gyms of around 6,000 feet of climbing wall area. Thanks

That's what I thought...but there was no punctuation, so I couldn't tell what you were trying to do. I wasn't sure if that was also directions on how to get from one gym to the other.
