Hey...I just moved to the Aberdeen area and was wondering what kind of climbs are at the Palisades...any suggested areas to try?....I typically focus on sport routes, but have started doing more trad..... This past spring I was climbing at Joshua Tree several times a month, and now I'm reduced to bouldering around on the walls of my local library.....If anyone is looking for someone to climb with (or would at least tolerate my presence and give the occasional belay), let me know.....I'm goin crazy in this flatland (even Florida has climbing gyms!).....James

palisades is mostly toprope... i have never lead out there, or anywhere for that matter, but i have seen a few routes done. there are no bolts. king and queen rock are decent, south wall is good too....i think the hardest route is 5.12...scheels, the great outdoor store, and maybe sun n fun will have the guide book, its not awesome, but well worth the $5. i go to SDSU, but am living in sioux falls for the summer, there are quite a few college kids that climb there or out at blue mounds just north of luverne, which is definitely worth checking out. hopefully that gets you started, let me know if you need anything else, you are more than welcome to join me and my friends, let me know when you are planning on coming down.
